Shipping timeline and responsibilities

  • Ship each order within 2 business days of the sale (excluding weekends and holidays).

  • An order is considered shipped once it receives a drop-off scan (not when the label is created).

  • Missing the shipping window or confirmation can impact Account Health, delay payment, or lead to cancellations.

  • Buyers pay for shipping at checkout by default, unless you offer discounts, run giveaways, or make adjustments after purchase.

  • Use Whatnot-generated shipping labels unless approved for Bring Your Own Label (BYOL)

Review Shipping Policy for Sellers for full details.

What you’ll need before you ship

  • Computer or tablet to use whatnot.com (the app has limited shipping tools)
  • Pop-ups enabled to view and print labels
  • Printer (8.5 × 11 inch labels) or thermal printer (4 × 6 inch labels)
  • Packaging materials (boxes, mailers, padding, tape)
  • Scale to weigh packages accurately

Ship your order step-by-step

Use whatnot.com for the full experience while fulfilling orders. The mobile app supports label generation, but you’ll need the website to adjust shipment details or print in bulk.

Step 1: Set your label preferences

Before generating labels, confirm:

  • Label size (4 × 6 inch or 8.5 × 11 inch)
  • Packing slip size (4 × 6 inch or 8.5 × 11 inch)
  • Return address

Note: You can’t change the return address after a label is generated.

Step 2: Review and fix shipment details

Review each shipment before generating labels to make sure the weight and dimensions on the label match the final package.

Note: Incorrect weight, dimensions, or bundling can cause label mismatches, returned packages, or extra postage charges.

Check each shipment for:

  • Cancellation requests → Look for the ! warning icon and approve or deny before generating labels.
  • Bundled orders → Purchases from the same buyer may be bundled into a single shipment. Confirm items are grouped correctly; bundle or unbundle if needed.
  • Package details → Make sure weight and dimensions include the item(s) and packaging.

To review or update a shipment:

  1. Open the Shipments page in Seller Hub
  2. Filter by Needs Label or a specific show
  3. Next to the shipment, use the pencil icon or select Edit Shipping Details

Step 4: Pack items and attach labels

Pack each order and prepare it for shipment.

Make sure the items, weight, and packaging match the shipment details on the Shipments page before you seal and label the package.

Pack the order:

  • Use packaging that fits the shipment’s size, weight, and carrier requirements
  • Wrap item(s) securely and place them in the package
  • (Optional) Place the packing slip inside so the buyer can see what’s included

Before sealing:

  • Leave the package open so you can confirm the correct label
  • Weigh the full package and adjust shipment details if needed

Attach the label:

  • Match each label to the correct package
  • Attach the label flat with the barcode fully visible
  • Seal the package securely

Tip: See category-specific packaging guidelines for best practices.

Step 5: Drop off your packages

Drop off your package with the carrier listed on the shipping label, or schedule a pickup if your carrier offers it.

Tip: Use the in-app scanner to confirm drop-off instantly and notify the buyer.
