By default, buyers pay for shipping on Whatnot. Some sellers have access to settings that let you offer free or discounted shipping during live shows.
Manage these settings in Seller Hub in the Whatnot app. They don’t apply to Giveaways or purchases made outside of shows.
If you don’t see these options, buyers will pay shipping by default. This feature may become available over time.

Shipping cost options
Before updating your shipping settings, here’s what each option means:
-
Seller pays all shipping costs:
- You cover all shipping fees for domestic orders. Buyers still pay for international shipping. Learn more.
-
Buyer pays up to a set shipping cost:
You set the maximum amount a buyer will pay for shipping during your show, regardless of how many items they buy or shipments required. Once they reach that amount, you cover the rest.
- Example: You set a $9.21 maximum. If shipping ends up costing $20 for one buyer, they pay $9.21 and you pay the remaining $10.79.
-
Buyers pay all shipping costs (default):
- Buyers pay the full shipping cost for their orders.
Tip: If you offer shipping discounts, your show will display a Free Shipping or Reduced Shipping label. Buyers can search and filter by either.

Who gets free or discounted shipping
Shipping eligibility depends on your location and your buyers’ locations.
Free or discounted shipping usually only applies to domestic buyers, within your country. Buyers outside your country pay standard shipping rates.
-
If you're seller in the contiguous US (48 mainland states):
Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in the contiguous US.
Buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories (e.g., Guam) pay standard shipping rates.
-
If you're a seller outside the contiguous US (e.g. Hawaii, Alaska, Guam):
Discounted shipping applies to all US buyers, including those in other states and territories (e.g. New York, Puerto Rico).
You’ll pay commercial shipping rates for these orders.
-
If you're a seller outside the US:
Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in your own country (domestic orders).
