By default, buyers pay for shipping. During live shows, you can choose to cover all or part of the shipping costs.
Note: Free or discounted shipping can only be set up in the Whatnot mobile app. It’s only available for purchases made during shows.

Understand shipping cost options
Before you adjust your shipping cost settings, here's what each shipping cost option means:
-
Seller pays all shipping costs:
- You'll cover all shipping fees for domestic orders. Buyers still pay for international shipping.
- Tip: Buyers will see a Free Shipping label on your show, and they can filter specifically for shows that offer free shipping.
-
Buyer pays up to a set shipping cost:
- You choose the maximum amount a buyer will pay for shipping during your show, no matter how many items they buy or how many shipments it takes. Once they reach that maximum, you'll cover the rest.
- Example: You set a $10 max. If shipping ends up costing $18 for one buyer, they pay $10 and you pay the remaining $8.
- Tip: Buyers will see a Reduced Shipping label on your show.
-
Buyer pays all shipping costs:
- Buyers pay the full shipping cost for their orders during the show.
- This is the default setting on Whatnot.

Where free and discounted shipping applies
Shipping cost eligibility depends on where you and your buyers are located. Buyers outside your country are not eligible for free or discounted shipping.
-
If you're a US seller in the contiguous US (48 mainland states):
- Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in the contiguous US.
- Buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories like Guam will pay standard shipping rates.
-
If you're a US seller outside the contiguous US (e.g. Hawaii, Alaska, or Guam):
- Discounted shipping applies to all domestic US buyers, including those in other states and territories like New York or Puerto Rico.
- You’ll pay commercial shipping rates for these orders.
-
If you're a seller based outside the US (e.g. the EU, Australia):
- Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in your own country.
