By default, buyers pay for shipping on Whatnot. Some sellers have access to settings that let you offer free or discounted shipping during live shows.
Manage these shipping cost settings in Seller Hub in the Whatnot app. These options don't apply to Giveaways or purchases made outside of shows.
If you don’t see these settings, buyers will pay shipping by default. This feature may become available to you over time.

Understand shipping cost options
Before you update your shipping costs, here’s what each option means.
-
Seller pays all shipping costs:
You’ll cover all shipping fees for domestic orders. Buyers still pay for international shipping. Learn more.
-
Buyer pays up to a set shipping cost:
You choose the maximum amount a buyer will pay for shipping during your show, no matter how many items they buy or how many shipments it takes. Once they reach that amount, you’ll cover the rest.
- Example: You set a $10 maximum. If shipping ends up costing $18 for one buyer, they pay $10 and you pay the remaining $8.
-
Buyers pay all shipping costs (default):
- Buyers pay the full shipping cost for their orders.
Tip: If you offer shipping discounts, your show will display a Free Shipping or Reduced Shipping label. Buyers can search and filter by either.
Set default shipping costs for future shows
When you change your shipping settings from Seller Hub, they apply to all the new shows you schedule.
Shows you’ve already scheduled keep their current shipping settings, unless you update them individually.

Where free or discounted shipping applies
Shipping eligibility depends on where you and your buyers are located. Buyers outside your country aren’t eligible for free or discounted shipping.
-
If you're seller in the contiguous US (48 mainland states):
- Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in the contiguous US.
- Buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories like Guam will pay standard shipping rates.
-
If you're a seller outside the contiguous US (e.g. Hawaii, Alaska, Guam):
- Discounted shipping applies to all domestic US buyers, including those in other states and territories like New York or Puerto Rico.
- You’ll pay commercial shipping rates for these orders.
-
If you're a seller outside the US:
Discounted shipping applies only to buyers in your own country.
