Adjust a shipment after a sale

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

If you need to change shipping details after a sale or Giveaway, you can edit a shipment before it's in transit.

Shipping adjustments help make sure your label matches the package you're sending. If something looks off, make any necessary updates before you drop off the package.

If the label doesn't match the package you're sending, the shipment may be refused, delayed, or charged additional postage.

In this article:

When should I adjust a shipment?

You may need to adjust a shipment if:

  • The shipment weight or dimensions don't match the details entered when you listed the item
  • You want to bundle multiple orders into one shipment
  • You need to split a bundled shipment into separate shipments
  • You want to change the shipping service (US only)
  • You want to add insurance or signature confirmation (US only)

For help with other label changes, check Change or fix your shipping label.

Can I still make an adjustment?

Whether you can adjust a shipment depends on where it is in the shipping process:

  • Before you generate a label: You can bundle items into one shipment.
  • After you generate a label, but before you drop it off: You can update the weight, dimensions, or shipping service.
  • Until the package is in transit: You can still split bundled items into separate shipments.

Note: Once your package is in transit, you can't make any further shipping adjustments.

How do I make a shipping adjustment?

You can edit a shipment on whatnot.com. Shipping adjustments aren’t available in the app.

  1. From Seller Hub, open the Shipments page
  2. Select the shipment
  3. Click Edit Shipping Details (before generating a label) or Generate New Label (if you already generated one)
  4. Make your updates
  5. Scroll down to Shipping Costs > Pending Adjustments to review any cost changes
  6. Save or generate your new label

If you've already generated a label, Whatnot will void the original label and create a new one.

Important: Always use the newest version of your shipping label to avoid issues with delivery, tracking, and payouts.

How much do shipping adjustments costs?

Shipping costs are calculated and charged at checkout. If you adjust a shipment after a sale, the shipping label cost may change.

If the updated label costs more than the original label:

  • Whatnot may cover the additional cost through one of your free shipping adjustments.
  • If the adjustment isn't covered by a free adjustment, you'll be charged the difference.
  • Charges are deducted from your Whatnot account balance after the new label is generated.
  • Review the charge in Seller Hub > Ledger on web or Seller Hub > Transactions on the app.

If the updated label costs less than the original label:

  • The shipping charge paid at checkout won't change.
  • Whatnot doesn't issue refund.

Before you confirm an adjustment, you'll see whether:

  • It's free
  • It requires an additional charge
  • It uses one of your free shipping adjustments

Free shipping adjustments

Sellers receive 5 free shipping adjustments each week.

A free shipping adjustment means Whatnot covers any additional shipping costs from the adjustment.

How can I avoid shipping adjustments?

Most shipping adjustments can be avoided by setting up shipping accurately before you sell.

Accurate shipping details upfront can help prevent fulfillment delays, additional shipping charges, and delivery issues.

Shipping adjustments are meant for occasional corrections, not as a replacement for accurate shipping setup.

Repeated issues with inaccurate shipment details may lead to account action under Whatnot’s What Actions We Take policy.
