Manage ratings and reviews as a seller

After an order is delivered, buyers can choose to rate their purchase. These reviews impact your average rating as a seller and shape how potential buyers see your shop.

Understanding how reviews work and how to reply or report them can help you build trust, resolve issues, and grow your business.

What affects your rating

The rating on your profile is the average of all the star ratings you’ve received from buyers—whether or not they left a written review. This rating helps build trust with potential buyers.

To maintain a strong rating:

  • Ship orders quickly
  • Package items securely
  • Accurately describe your items

Consistently low ratings may lead to account action under our What Actions We Take policy.

Where ratings and reviews appear

  • Star-only ratings (no written comment) count toward the average rating shown on your profile but aren’t shown individually.

  • Written reviews are visible to anyone who visits your profile. You can view them in the Reviews tab, next to Shop and Shows

  • The total Reviews count on your profile includes both star-only ratings and written reviews. That means your total review count might be higher than the number of written reviews you see.

When buyers can leave feedback

After an order is delivered, the order's status changes to Pending Review. This means the buyer has 30 days to rate their purchase. Once the buyer leaves a rating—or the review window closes—the order status changes to Completed.

The timing of your payout doesn't depend on the buyer's rating or review. 

Reply to a review

You can respond to any written review. For example, you can thank the buyer, clarify something, or respond to feedback. Please make sure your replies follow out Community Guidelines

Note: You can only reply to reviews using the Whatnot app for iOS or Android. 

  1. Open the Whatnot app
  2. Tap your Account icon 
  3. Go to the Reviews tab
  4. Find the review you want to reply to
  5. Tap the three dots (⋮) 
  6. Select Reply

Appeal a review

If a review violates our Community Guidelines, you can report it. This includes violations like harassment or misinformation. Our team will review your report and determine if any action is needed.

Note: You can only appeal a review using the Whatnot app for iOS or Android. 

  1. Open the Whatnot app
  2. Tap your Account icon 
  3. Go to the Reviews tab
  4. Find the review you'd like to appeal
  5. Tap the three dots (⋮) 
  6. Select Report
  7. Complete the form and Submit

Reporting a review doesn’t guarantee removal. Our team only removes reviews that clearly violate our policies, and reviews older than 30 days are rarely taken down.

If you disagree with a review, you can reply to share your perspective. While buyers can’t edit a review after posting, they can choose to delete it if they’d like.
