Prohibited or Restricted Items on Whatnot

Whatnot prohibits the following items from being sold or given away. When offering items for sale, please also review Whatnot’s Community Guidelines and Marketplace Listing Guidelines.

• Adult/sex toys or products (including, sex dolls, massagers, condoms, lubricant and sexual wellness products)
• Airbags
• Alcohol (including, beer, spirits, and wine)
• Ammunition (including, new and used)
• Animal remains (excluding leather, products made from animal wool/hair, animal bone in jewelry provided not from ivory, dog, cat, or endangered or threatened species)
• Cash or Whatnot store credit (excluding collectible currency) 
• Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco products, vaping devices, or any other smokable products
• Corrective eyeglasses, corrective and colored contact lenses (excluding low strength magnifying glasses)
• Counterfeit items
• Drugs and medications (including illegal & controlled substances, THC, “legal highs”, OTC medications, and prescription drugs)
• Drug paraphernalia (including bongs, pipes, pill presses, etc.) 
• Dry ice
• Explicit, hateful or offensive items, items that glorify or promote violence or self-harm, or items that display or depict child sex abuse or that present children in a sexual manner
• Explosives and explosive precursors (including fireworks, flares, sparklers)
• Expired products
• Financial products, services or instruments (including stocks, bonds, securities)
• Gasoline
• Glues
• Hand sanitizer
• Hemp and CBD products (including cannabis seeds, but hemp fiber in textiles is permitted) 
• Historical or replica Nazi items or propaganda including any items displaying Nazi symbols (including any Nazi memorabilia, coins, bills, postcards, posters, uniforms, etc.)
• Human remains or any part or fluid produced by the human body (excluding human scalp hair)
• Illegal items and services, and items or services that promote deceptive or illegal activity (including falsified IDs or documents, falsified test results, malware or hacking services for the purposes of harming Whatnot or another’s services or infrastructure)
• Items or services that violate our

  • The Terms and Conditions of our carrier partners, including USPS requirements
• Items making health claims
• Items that directly or indirectly originate from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Donetsk People’s Republic, or Luhansk People’s Republic regions of Ukraine
• Live animals
• Flammable and related items: Strike anywhere matches (safety matches permitted with proper shipping practices), lighters containing lighter fluid (empty lighters permitted with proper shipping), flammable and combustible liquids, flamethrowers
• Medical products (including supplies, medications, medical devices and machinery, etc.)
• Paint (painted products are okay)
• Radioactive materials (uranium dishware/cookware is okay)
• Raffle tickets, lottery tickets
• Recalled products
• Personal information without their consent, including personally identifiable information, sensitive personal information, or confidential information, such as credit card numbers, confidential national ID numbers, or account passwords
  
• Pornography 
• Sexual services, escort services, or any other romantic services (including dates)
• Stolen items
• Tattoo equipment, needles and ink
• Unknown items: items that are unknown to the seller (including unclaimed and unopened packages)
• Unsafe substances, poisons, toxigenic substances, waste of any kind, or products containing those unsafe substances (including metallic mercury, mold, pesticides, paint thinners, cyanide)
• Used cosmetics, sponges, or applicators
• Used undergarments or intimate items (excluding used bras)
• Weapons (including firearms, imitation firearms, firearm parts and attachments, antique guns, paintball/airsoft guns, stun guns, mace spray, pepper spray, plans/blueprints to make weapons, other instruments designed/intended to cause serious bodily injury)

Whatnot restricts the sale and shipping of the following:

• Cosmetics 
  
• Food and Drink 
• Knives 
• Plants
• Potentially hazardous materials
• Novelty or replica coins
