Firearm, firearm parts, and ammunition policy

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

Whatnot does not permit the sale of firearms, firearm parts, or ammunition. Whatnot has specific restrictions around the sale of firearm accessories and tactical gear.

Firearms: Firearms are not permitted to be offered for sale, or given away, on Whatnot. This includes, regardless of kind or size, all hand guns, rifles, antique guns, non-working guns, decommissioned firearms, grenade launchers.

Firearm parts: Firearm parts are not permitted to be offered for sale, or given away, on Whatnot. This includes: barrels, suppressors, silencers, sears, magazines, magazine extenders, bump stocks, pistol conversion kits, barrel shroud, forward pistol grip, vertical pistol grip, bolts, slides, firing pins, cylinders, hammers, triggers, trigger assemblies, tumbler, rail attachments, bayonet lug, bull-pup sticks, converters to give gun automatic capability, kits to create gun magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, firearm production machinery, case trimmers, and firearm receivers or frames, whether complete or not.

Ammunition: Ammunition for firearms is not permitted to be offered for sale, or given away, on Whatnot, including bullets, cartridges, casings, shells, and hulls.

Firearm accessories: Only the following firearm accessories are permitted to be offered for sale, or given away, on Whatnot: scopes, sights, red dots, bipods and tripods, gun cases or socks, en bloc clips, choke tubes, straps, gun storage, cameras, holsters, slings, empty gun clips. 

Tactical gear: Whatnot does not permit the sale of bullet-proof or ballistic vests, plates, pads, apparel, helmets, or backpacks.  Non-ballistic tactical vests and apparel are permitted, including for protection against paintball pellets and BBs.

In addition to the above, any and all kits, blueprints, or other information or tutorials on how to make firearms or firearm parts are not permitted to be offered for sale, or given away, on Whatnot.  

As a reminder, the sale of any permitted item must comply with applicable shipping requirements and all laws and regulations applicable in both the jurisdiction of your business and of your buyer’s jurisdiction. 

Toy guns are permitted on the platform provided they are clearly marked as a toy, and are not meant to imitate a real firearm. 

Displaying firearms and firearm parts: While sellers may display a firearm for the purposes of showing how an accessory works with a firearm, sellers must always handle any firearms displayed in a show safely. Please also see Whatnot’s Reckless and Dangerous Behavior Policy. In addition, sellers must not provide instructions on how to make or adapt firearms, ammunition, or any prohibited item listed in this policy.
