If your account—or someone involved in your order—was suspended, banned, or had lost selling access due to a policy violation, here’s what that means and what happens next.
In most cases, existing orders continue as normal and eligible balances are paid out according to our policies.

If you’re a seller
If your Seller account was suspended, banned, or you lost selling access, here’s what that means for you.
Your access to Whatnot
While your account is penalized, you won’t be able to:
- Go live
- List or sell items
- Access Seller Hub
If enforcement happens while you’re live, your show may be ended.
If you’re suspended or banned, you can still log in to review your Account Health dashboard and submit an appeal, if eligible.
If you’re temporarily suspended, your access will automatically be restored when the suspension ends, unless we tell you otherwise.
If you’re permanently banned or lost selling access, creating a new account to bypass enforcement isn’t allowed and will result in additional action.
What happens to existing orders
You’re still expected to fulfill orders placed before the suspension, ban, or loss of selling access.
Shipping labels will be emailed to you. You won’t be able to generate new labels directly in Whatnot.
If you need help with labels or fulfillment, contact Support.
What happens to your earnings
- If you’re temporarily suspended, you can start a payout once your account access is restored.
- If you’re permanently banned or lost selling access, eligible balances are typically paid out 31 days after the action, in line with our policies.

If you’re a buyer
If your account was temporarily suspended or permanently banned, here’s what that means.
Your account access
While your account is restricted, you won’t be able to browse Whatnot or place new orders.
If you’re permanently banned, creating a new account isn’t allowed. New accounts created to bypass enforcement will also be restricted.
What happens to orders you’ve placed
Orders placed before your suspension or ban are usually fulfilled as normal. Sellers can still access your order details and generate shipping labels.
If an order can’t be completed for any reason, we’ll notify you by email.

If the other person in your order was suspended or banned
In most cases, active orders continue as normal. You don’t need to take action unless we contact you directly.
If a seller you bought from was restricted
- Their profile may appear inactive, but your order should still be fulfilled.
- If the order can’t be completed, we’ll let you know.
If a buyer who purchased from you was restricted
You can usually continue fulfilling the order as normal, even if their profile appears inactive.
You may not be directly notified if a buyer’s account is suspended or banned.
If we need you to take additional action, we’ll contact you by email.
