Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

A dietary supplement (also known as a natural health product, food supplement, or complementary medicine depending on the jurisdiction) is an ingestible product containing ingredients intended to supplement or support the diet. These products may contain vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, amino acids, or other permitted dietary or nutritional substances. Supplements appear in many forms, including powders, pills, capsules, gummies, drops, and sprays, and may be marketed for a variety of purposes including  sports nutrition, energy, immunity, joint health, and weight management.

Whatnot permits the sale of supplements under the following requirements:

  • Supplements Category: All supplements sellers must be approved to sell in the Supplements Category. See Gating at Whatnot for additional details.
  • Prohibited supplements and ingredients 
    • Sexual-enhancement supplements are prohibited.
    • Injectable substances (including injectable vitamins) are prohibited.
    • Supplements must not contain prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, controlled substances, illicit ingredients, or any amount of Delta-9 THC, and must comply with Whatnot’s broader Prohibited or Restricted Items Policy.
  • Requirements: Supplements must:
    • be unopened, in their original, sealed, undamaged manufacturer packaging;
    • be unexpired, with at least three months before the relevant expiry date at time of order;
    • not be homemade, repackaged, or otherwise produced outside compliant, licensed facilities;
    • not be subject to any recall in the seller’s jurisdiction or internationally;
    • contain only the ingredients declared on the label, and not contain any contaminants, undeclared ingredients, or ingredients subject to health alerts or warnings, including by the U.S. FDA Health Fraud Database, Health Canada recalls and advisories, the EU RAPEX Safety Alerts, the U.K. MHRA Safety Alerts, or the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Safety Alerts in Australia;
    • comply with applicable labeling and marketing laws, including applicable language requirements, ingredients, applicable warnings and manufacturer/distributor information. 
  • Prohibited claims: Supplements must not be sold with any prohibited claims including:
    • any claims that the supplement can diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or medical condition;
    • claims suggesting the product is a substitute for prescription drugs, controlled substances, or medical treatments;
    • false, misleading, or deceptive claims, including “FDA approved,” “approved by Health Canada,” “approved by MHRA,” “EU-approved,” “TGA-approved,” or any similar suggestion unless explicitly permitted under the relevant regulatory framework.

Whatnot may, at its sole discretion, remove any listing or prohibit a seller from offering supplements if the product is deemed unsafe, non-compliant, misleading, or otherwise unsuitable for the platform.
