Use your own shipping label (BYOL)

The Bring Your Own Label (BYOL) program is only available to sellers in France and Germany. It lets you use your own shipping label instead of Whatnot’s, which can be helpful if you prefer a different carrier.

Where you can use BYOL

You can use BYOL if you're shipping from:

• France – with Colissimo or Mondial Relay (for international orders)

• Germany – with DHL

If you're shipping any other country, including the US, you must use a Whatnot-generated label. Using your own label outside BYOL supported countries can cause tracking issues and delay your payout.

How to use your own label

Note: You can only use your own label on whatnot.com, not in the app. 

1. Sign in to whatnot.com
2. Go to the Shipments page and filter by Needs Label
3. (Optional) Filter by a specific live show or marketplace to find your order
4. Select the order
5. Under Shipping Actions, copy the buyer’s address
6. Buy a trackable shipping label from your carrier (untracked shipping isn’t allowed)
7. Return to the Shipments page and open the order 
8. Click Enter Tracking Code
9. Drop off the package within 2 days of the sale

Tracking and payout

Once you enter your label's tracking number on Whatnot:

• Your payment begins processing: 

  • Early Payout: Payment and shipping reimbursement are processed immediately

  • Standard payout: You'll receive payment and shipping reimbursement 7 days after tracking is entered

  • Both payment and shipping reimbursement will appear in your ledger

• The order is marked delivered automatically 2 weeks later

• You can’t switch back to a Whatnot label after entering tracking

Shipping costs 

Even with BYOL, Whatnot still charges the standard shipping fee upfront. This is paid by you or the buyer, based on your shipping settings.

To use BYOL, you must buy your own label separately. After you enter your tracking number for your label, you’ll be automatically reimbursed for the standard shipping fee that was charged. This reimbursement applies to shipping costs for giveaway orders too. 

Note: If your label costs more than the standard fee, you’ll cover the difference. Whatnot doesn’t reimburse shipping overages.
