By default, buyers pay for shipping on Whatnot. You can change this by updating your shipping settings, where you can choose to cover all or part of those costs during your shows.
Lowering or covering shipping costs can help encourage more viewers and purchases during your show.
These settings apply to shows only. They don’t apply to Giveaways or marketplace orders placed outside of a Show.
Note: Shipping cost settings aren’t available to all sellers right away or in all regions. As you continue selling on Whatnot, more shipping options may appear in Seller Hub. Until then, buyers will pay standard shipping rates.

Understand your shipping cost options
Before updating your settings, here’s what each option means:
- Seller pays all shipping costs: You cover all domestic shipping costs. Buyers still pay for international shipping.
-
Buyer pays up to a set shipping cost: You set the maximum amount a buyer will pay for shipping during your show. Once they reach that amount, you cover the rest.
- Example: If you set a $9.21 maximum and a buyer’s total shipping costs $20, they pay $9.21 and you pay $10.79.
- Buyers pay all shipping costs (default setting): Shoppers pay the full shipping cost for their orders.
Tip: Shows where you offer discounted shipping may display a Free Shipping or Reduced Shipping label that viewers see in their feeds. Buyers can also search and filter using these labels.

Who gets free or discounted shipping
Free or discounted shipping depends on your location and your buyers’’ locations.
In most cases, free or discounted shipping applies to domestic orders only.
- If you’re a seller in the contiguous US (48 states): Applies to buyers in the mainland US only. Buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories will pay standard shipping rates.
- If you’re a seller outside the contiguous US (e.g. Alaska, Hawaii, Guam): Applies to all US Shoppers. You’ll pay commercial shipping rates for these orders.
- If you’re a seller outside the US: Applies only to domestic orders within your country.
