Add Giveaway listings to your show

Giveaways let you offer free items to your community during a show. Create giveaway listings before you go live or while your show is in progress, from the app or whatnot.com. 

There are three types of giveaways you can offer:

  • Standard Giveaways: Viewers in your show can enter.
  • Follower-Only Giveaways: Only viewers who follow you can enter.
  • Buyer Appreciation Giveaways (BAGs): Eligible buyers who make a purchase after the giveaway listing is created can enter.

After you create a giveaway listing, start the giveaway to allow eligible viewers to enter. Giveaways end after a few minutes and Whatnot will randomly select a winner. Learn how to run a Giveaway.

Before you start 

  • As the seller, you'll cover giveaway shipping costs, including international shipping if enabled. 
  • Ship giveaway items within two business days like any other order.  
  • For international shipments, recipients are responsible for duties, customs fees, and import taxes.
  • Review Whatnot's Prohibited Items Policy to make sure the giveaway item is allowed. 

Add a giveaway listing to your show 

Giveaways can only run during a live show, so you'll need to create one for a scheduled show. 

You can create the listing before your show starts or while you're live. After the listing is published, you can start the Giveaway during your show. 

Add a Giveaway on the app
  1. From the app, open Seller Hub Seller Hub icon.
  2. Open your scheduled Show. 
  3. Tap Shop Shop icon. 
  4. Select Quality Listing or Temporary Listing. 
  5. Add your item details. 
  6. Select Giveaway. 
  7. Choose who can enter:
    • Everyone
    • Followers only
    • Buyer Appreciation
  8. If you selected Buyer Appreciation, add your official rules (optional). Whatnot will always display the standard rules and requirements. 
  9. Turn on International Shipping to allow eligible international viewers to enter (optional).
  10. Tap Publish.
Add a Giveaway on web

Note: On whatnot.com, giveaways can only be created as Temporary Listings. These listings automatically disappear when your show ends.

  1. From the Shows page, open your scheduled show.
  2. In the listings panel, click Add.
  3. Select Create Temporary Listing.
  4. Select Giveaway.
  5. Add your item details. 
  6. Choose who can enter:
    • Everyone
    • Followers only
    • Buyer Appreciation
  7. If you selected Buyer Appreciation, add your official rules (optional). Whatnot will always display the standard rules and requirements. 
  8. Turn on International Shipping to allow eligible international viewers to enter (optional).
  9. Click Confirm to publish. 

More about Buyer Appreciation Giveaways

Buyer Appreciation Giveaways (BAGs) are a way to recognize customers who make purchases during your show.

Keep in mind: 

  • No edits or deletions. BAG listings can't be edited or deleted after they're created.
  • Rules are required. Whatnot automatically displays the standard giveaway requirements from our Terms within the listing details. You can also add your own official rules.
  • Alternative entry methods may apply. Buyers in eligible regions may be able to enter through another method, such as a web form, where required by law.
  • No paid-entry promotions. Buyer Appreciation Giveaways can't be used as paid-entry promotions or raffles.
