Running a Coupon Giveaway

Coupon giveaways let you offer a discount on a future purchase as your giveaway prize. You set the amount, expiration window, and quantity when you create the giveaway. Each winner's coupon is added to their account automatically and the discount only applies when the winner buys from you again. Nothing ships and there are no shipping or customs costs. 

How it works

• You choose Coupon as the prize when creating a giveaway, and set the discount amount, expiration window, and quantity.
• The giveaway runs like any other: viewers enter for free, and Whatnot randomly selects the winner.
• Each winner’s coupon is added to their account automatically. The discount applies when they make a future purchase from you.

Create a coupon giveaway

• Create a giveaway for your show in the app or on whatnot.com.
• Choose Coupon as the prize type.
• Set the discount amount, the expiration window (30, 60, or 90 days), and the quantity.
• Start the giveaway during your show, like any other giveaway.

What it costs

• Running the giveaway is free. You fund the discount only when a winner redeems it on a future purchase from you.
• If a coupon is never used, it expires and costs you nothing.

FAQs

• Can the winner use the coupon with other sellers?
  • No. The coupon only works on purchases from you.
• Can the same viewer win more than one coupon?
  • Yes. If your giveaway offers multiple coupons, the same viewer can win more than one. They can apply one coupon per order.
• Where can I see the coupons I’ve given away?
  • Prize coupons don’t appear in your coupon list. You’ll see the giveaway itself and a $0 order for each winner in your sales.
• Can I cancel a coupon after the giveaway has run?
  • No. Once a winner is drawn, the coupon is theirs, the same as a physical giveaway prize. Make sure the discount amount is right before you start the giveaway.
• What happens if the winner never uses the coupon?
  • It expires at the end of the window you chose. You’re never charged for unredeemed coupons.
• Can I offer a percentage discount, free shipping, or a gift card instead?
  • Not right now. Coupon prizes are fixed-amount discounts.
