Whatnot Gift Cards

Whatnot Gift Cards are digital gift cards you can use toward eligible purchases on Whatnot. 

They’re currently available in the United States and Canada where they don’t expire. You can use your gift card balance across eligible purchases until it's spent.

For now, only eligible sellers can purchase Gift Cards for themselves or offer them as Giveaway prizes. We’re working to make Gift Cards more widely available soon.

How Whatnot Gift Cards work

Whatnot Gift Cards are digital-only and can be used toward eligible merchandise purchases in the Whatnot app or on whatnot.com.

Here's what to know:

• They don't expire in the US or CA. You can use your balance across eligible purchases until it's spent.
• They're stored in your Whatnot account. Once claimed, gift cards are added to your Gift Card balance, and appear in your Whatnot wallet and under Account > Gift Cards.
• They're separate from other balances. Gift Card balances are held separately from promotional credits and other Whatnot balances.
• They're country-specific. Gift Cards are issued in US or Canadian dollars, depending on where they're purchased. You can only use them in the country and currency in which they were issued.

Whatnot Gift Cards are subject to the terms and conditions of the country where they're purchased or issued, along with the Whatnot Terms of Use.

Get and claim a Gift Card

Buyers can receive Whatnot Gift Cards by winning a seller’s Gift Card Giveaway.

Gift Card Giveaways are available in the United States and Canada. You must be in the same country as the seller to enter, and you can only enter through the Whatnot app.

Claim your Gift Card

If you win a Gift Card Giveaway, Whatnot will automatically deliver your Gift Card digitally. You'll need to claim it before you can use it.

1. From the app or whatnot.com, go to your Account 
2. Select Gift Cards
3. Claim any unclaimed Gift Cards

Once claimed, the gift card  will be added to the gift card balance in your Whatnot wallet, and available to use toward eligible purchases on Whatnot.

Check your Gift Card balance

You can view your available Gift Card balance by visiting your Account > Gift Cards.

Your balance updates as you make eligible purchases. 

You don't need to spend your full Gift Card balance in one order. Any remaining balance can be used toward future eligible purchases.

Use a Gift Card at checkout

You can use your Gift Card balance toward eligible purchases in the Whatnot app or on whatnot.com, including applicable shipping costs and taxes.

How Gift Card payments work:

1. You must claim your Gift Card to add it to your Whatnot Wallet.
2. Once claimed, your Gift Card balance is automatically applied to eligible purchases. No need to turn it on or select it at checkout.

Want to turn off Gift Card payments?

Gift Card payments are enabled by default, but you can turn them off if you prefer:

• During a live show: Open your Wallet, then go to Payment to turn off Gift Card payments.
• At Buy It Now (BIN) checkout: Under the Payment section, turn off Gift Card payments before completing your purchase.

Whatnot applies payments in this order, when applicable:

1. Coupons
2. Promotional credits
3. Gift Card balance
4. Your default payment method

If your Gift Card doesn't cover the full purchase

If your Gift Card balance doesn't cover the full cost of an eligible purchase, we'll automatically charge the remaining amount to your default payment method.

For example, if your purchase totals $50 and you have a $20 Gift Card balance, we'll apply the $20 and charge the remaining $30 to your default payment method.

If you have multiple Gift Cards

Whatnot automatically applies your available Gift Card balances, starting with the oldest-issued Gift Card first.

You don't need to select individual Gift Cards at checkout.

Purchase and give away Gift Cards as a seller

Eligible sellers in the United States and Canada can purchase Whatnot Gift Cards to make eligible purchases or offer them as Giveaway prizes.

To check if you have access, open your show's Shop and tap the plus icon. If you see Gift Card Giveaway, you can purchase Gift Cards through that option.

Gift Card Giveaways are available on iOS, Android, and web. For step-by-step instructions on buying and giving away Gift Cards, see Create a Giveaway listing for your show.

Keep in mind:

• Only buyers in the same country as the seller can enter a Gift Card Giveaway.
• Whatnot automatically delivers Gift Cards digitally to winners, so there's nothing to ship.
• Winners must claim their Gift Cards before using the balance.
• To purchase a Gift Card, you must have a valid billing address in the country of purchase.

Gift Card restrictions

Gift Cards can only be used toward eligible purchases on Whatnot. The following restrictions apply.

Ineligible purchases

Gift Cards can't be used to purchase or pay for:

• Other Gift Cards
• Tips
• Offers
• Community Boosts
• Seller fees
• Coins (whether in or out of circulation), bullion, gold, or other precious metals
• Currency (including banknotes and virtual currency), tokens, or other monetary instruments
• Digital goods or services
• Any other item or category identified as ineligible at checkout

Whatnot may block Gift Card payments for ineligible items or categories.

Sellers are responsible for listing items in the correct category. Miscategorizing an ineligible item so it can be purchased with a Gift Card may result in enforcement action.

Other restrictions

Gift Card purchases are non-refundable, except as required by applicable law.

Gift Cards can't be:

• Redeemed for cash, except as required by applicable law
• Reloaded
• Resold
• Transferred or regifted after being awarded or received
• Used as a prize in another Giveaway after being awarded or received
• Used outside Whatnot

A Gift Card received from a Giveaway may only be used by the recipient.

Purchase limits

You can buy up to $10,000 USD in Gift Cards in the US, or $10,000 CAD in Canada, in any 24-hour period.

This limit applies across all Whatnot accounts controlled by the same person or legal entity. Opening or using multiple accounts doesn't increase the limit.

Whatnot may allow higher purchase limits subject to eligibility criteria, verification procedures, and any additional requirements it imposes. Whatnot may also impose additional limits on Gift Card purchases or use at any time.

Gift Card security and enforcement

Whatnot may freeze, void, disable, or restrict a Gift Card if it believes the Gift Card or its use is fraudulent, unauthorized, unlawful, or violates the applicable Gift Card Terms.
