Seller Fees and Commissions
- 8% sales commission (4% on Coins & Money) on the sold price of an item. However, in Europe, Whatnot charges an industry-low commission of 6.67% + VAT (4.00% + VAT for Coins & Money) on the purchase price of sold items.
- While we use the term “fee(s)” broadly in this article, for clarity, a “commission” is a charge calculated as a percentage of the sold price of an item (i.e. a sales commission). Whatnot does not charge sellers for the creation, storage, retrieval, or maintenance of listings, nor any similar or ancillary services related to such listings.
- 2.9% + 30 cents/pence payment processing fee for each transaction
- The payment processing fee applies to the subtotal, tax (U.S. and Canada), and the shipping price paid by a buyer for a given order.
In certain circumstances, Whatnot is required to charge tax on our Commissions and Fees. The applicable taxes depend upon the seller’s location and, outside the U.S., a seller's tax registration status. For more information, please see this article.

How are Whatnot’s payment processing fees calculated?
Sellers will be charged 2.9% + 30 cents/pence payment processing fee for the subtotal + tax (U.S. and Canada) + shipping.
See the breakdowns below based on the following example:
- You sell an item for $25, and the buyer pays $25 + $4 shipping + $2.19 tax. The buyer’s credit card is charged $31.19.
- 2.9% will apply to the full amount the buyer was charged ($31.19), for a total amount of $0.90 + $0.30.

Is the sales commission charged on taxes and shipping?
No, the sales commission is a charge calculated as a percentage of the amount the seller sold the item for (i.e. the buyer’s subtotal).
How can I get a breakdown of the fees deducted from my live sale?
You are able to see the total amount you've earned directly in the Seller Hub!
