Shipping adjustments let you edit your shipment details after a sale or Giveaway, so your label matches what you’re actually sending.
If your label doesn’t match your package, it may be delayed, refused, or charged additional postage. If something's off, it’s important to update your shipping details before you ship.
Shipping adjustments are best for occasional fixes, not as a replacement for accurate shipping setup.

When to use a shipping adjustment
Use a shipping adjustment if:
- Your package weight or dimensions are different than expected
- You want to bundle multiple orders into one shipment
- You need to split items into separate shipments
- You want to change the shipping service (US only)
- You want to add extras like insurance or signature confirmation (US only)
For help with any other label changes, check Change or fix your shipping label.
What happens when you adjust a label
When you make a change:
- If you haven’t generated a label yet, your updates are applied before it’s created.
- If a label already exists, it’s voided and replaced with a new one.
- Shipping costs may change, depending on your updates.
You’ll see any cost changes before you confirm.
When you can make changes
What you can update depends on where your shipment is in the process:
- Before you generate a label: You can bundle items into one shipment.
- After you generate a label, but before you drop it off: You can update the weight, dimensions, or shipping service.
- Until the package is in transit: You can still split bundled items into separate shipments.
Once the package is in transit, you won’t be able to make a shipping adjustment.
How to make a shipping adjustment
You can edit a shipment on whatnot.com. Shipping adjustments aren’t available in the app.
- From Seller Hub, open the Shipments page
- Select the shipment
- Click Edit Shipping Details (before generating a label) or Generate New Label (if you already generated one)
- Make your updates
- Scroll down to Shipping Costs > Pending Adjustments to review any cost changes
- Save or generate your new label
If a new label is created, the original label is voided.
Note: Always use the latest version of your shipping label to avoid issues with delivery, tracking, and payout.
Costs and free shipping adjustments
Shipping costs are priced and charged at the time of sale.
If you update shipment details later, the label cost may change.
- Some adjustments are always free
- Some are free up to a weekly limit
- Some always cost extra
If your new label costs more, the difference is charged to your account balance and shown in your ledger.
If the shipping adjustment costs less, Whatnot won’t issue a refund.
You’ll see whether an adjustment is free or costs extra before you save your changes.
How costs work by region
Adjustment types, costs, and free limits depend on where you ship from.
For sellers in the US
Always free
These adjustments are always free unless Whatnot identifies abuse:
- Weight changes within the same USPS pricing tier
- Under 1 lb: e.g. 4 oz → 8 oz (Ground Advantage or Priority Mail)
- Between 1–5 lbs: e.g. 2 lb → 4 lb
- Weight changes for Flat Rate Boxes, if Flat Rate was applied before the sale or show (e.g. 3 lb → 15 lb still ships Flat Rate)
- Bundling shipments, when the combined label cost is less than two separate ones
Free up to 5 per week
You can make up to 5 of these adjustments for free each week.
Your free allowance resets every Sunday at 7 PM ET.
After that, you’ll be charged the cost difference for each additional adjustment.
- Weight increases across tiers:
- From under 1 lb → 1–5 lbs (e.g. 4 oz → 2 lb)
- From 1–5 lbs → over 5 lbs (up to 5 lb increase, e.g. 2 lb → 6 lb)
- From over 5 lbs → higher weight (up to 5 lb increase, e.g. 7 lb → 10 lb)
- Unbundling shipments, when the cost of separate labels is higher than the original bundled label
- Increasing dimensions to:
- Over 1 cubic foot (1,728 in³)
- Any dimension over 22 inches
- Opting out of Flat Rate, if Flat Rate was applied before the sale or show
e.g. switching from a 6 lb Flat Rate label to a 6 lb Ground Advantage label - Seller-initiated upgrade from First-Class Mail Letter (FCML) to Ground Advantage or Priority Mail
Always charged
These changes are not eligible for free adjustments:
- Adding shipping extras, like insurance or signature confirmation
- Weight increases over 5 lbs in a single adjustment (e.g. 3 lb → 10 lb or 7 lb → 13 lb)
- Weight changes from under 1 lb to over 5 lbs (e.g. 4 oz → 6 lb)
- Increasing dimensions to over 2 cubic feet
For sellers outside the US
- You can make 5 free adjustments per week
- Your allowance resets Monday at 12:01 AM UTC
After that, you’ll be charged for any adjustment that increases shipping cost.
Shipping adjustments include:
- Increasing the weight or size of a shipment after the sale
- Switching to a more expensive shipping service
This applies to both domestic and international shipments.
Check how many free adjustments you have
To view how many free adjustments you have left:
- From the web, open the Shipments page in Seller Hub.
- Open the sidebar (before selecting a specific shipment).
- Check your Label adjustment allowance.
Avoid shipping adjustments
Most label adjustments can be avoided by setting accurate shipping details before you sell:
- Weigh items with their packaging
- Select accurate shipping profiles when listing products
- Double-check your shipping settings in Seller Hub and at the show-level
Review any custom shipping profiles if items aren’t bundling as expected
Keeping your shipping details accurate upfront helps prevent delayed packages, extra charges, and account action. Learn how to set up shipping before you sell.
