Troubleshoot issues with earnings or payouts

If your earnings aren’t showing up in your Whatnot account balance, or your payout didn’t arrive in your bank account, this article can help explain why and what to do next.

Fix problems with earnings

If your funds aren’t showing up in your Whatnot balance after a sale, here’s what to do.

Why are my earnings still processing?

Most sellers’ earnings remain Processing until the order is confirmed delivered to the buyer.

If your earnings are still processing, it might be:

  • The package hasn’t been scanned as delivered yet: Once the carrier confirms delivery, your earnings will begin processing and then take up to 4 hours to appear in your account balance. For most sellers outside North America, earnings will begin processing once the 96 hour settlement period ends and the order is delivered. Domestic shipments can take up to 2 weeks to get delivered after the first scan, and international shipments may take up to a month. You can track the status of each sale from your Orders page. Learn more about the earnings payout timeline.
  • You used a shipping method that doesn’t include standard tracking: These methods follow a different payout timeline. Learn more about payout timing for untracked shipping.
  • You’re in Early Payout, but we’ve placed a temporary payment hold: This is rare. When it happens, your earnings will stay “processing” until 48 hours after delivery is confirmed. Learn more about payment holds.

The buyer says they got their order. Why is it still marked as “shipping”?

Sometimes the tracking or order status doesn’t update right away, even if the item was delivered.

What to do:

  • Wait 72 hours after delivery: Carrier scans can happen too early or mistakenly, and it may take time for the system to update.
  • Still not updated? Contact Whatnot Support and we’ll help you sort it out.

Fix issues with payout

If you started a payout, but the funds haven’t arrived in your bank account, here’s what to check.

My payout is still processing

Check your Payouts page to view the status and estimated arrival date. Most payouts arrive within 1–2 business days after you start them (excluding weekends and holidays).

Please note that local banking holidays will delay the payout timeline accordingly.

  • US: See here for a list of federal banking holidays in the US. This schedule also applies to Canadian sellers paid out in CAD.
  • EU and UK: Payouts adhere to an Irish banking holiday schedule. See links for 2025 (includes Oct 27, Dec 25 and Dec 26) and 2026 holidays.
  • AUS: See here for a list of public holidays in Australia.

My payout is marked “completed,” but I haven’t received it

If your payout status says Completed, that means your bank has accepted the transfer. It can still take 2–5 business days for the money to show in your account, depending on your financial institution.

What to do:

  • Wait 5 business days after you started the payout.
  • If you still don’t see the money in your bank account, contact Whatnot support. Share the exact payout amount and date you started the payout.

My payout failed

When a payout fails your funds should automatically return to your account balance. You can try requesting a payout again in Seller Hub.

Payouts can fail for few reasons:

  • Your bank rejected it: Whatnot doesn’t have visibility into the reason for rejection. Please contact your financial institution for more help.
  • Your bank info is incorrect: Update your payout method from the Payouts page, then try again.
  • Your bank account is closed: Add a new payment method from the Payouts page before trying again.

Why is my account balance negative?

Your account balance can go negative when costs (like shipping adjustments, charges for Promote Tools) exceed your available earnings.

Examples:

  • If you have $0 in your balance and receive a $3 surcharge for a shipping adjustment, your balance becomes -$3.
  • If you have $0 in your balance and run a giveaway where you pay $5 to cover the shipping cost, you’re balance becomes -$5.

You can review all charges and transactions from your ledger.

You can start a payout once your balance is positive again. Keep selling and fulfilling orders; your account balance will update automatically as you earn.

Will I still get paid if my account is suspended or banned?

  • If you’re suspended: Once your account is reinstated, you can request a payout like usual.
  • If you’re permanently banned: In most cases, Whatnot will issue a final payout for payable funds 31 days after the ban. If we need more information before releasing funds, we’ll contact you.
