Manage offers on Buy It Now products

Buyers can make offers on any product you’ve listed as Buy It Now, in the marketplace or during live shows (if the item is reserved for a show). Offers don't apply to Auction listings.

You can accept, counter, or decline each offer, giving you flexibility and control when closing a sale.

Turn on offers

You can enable offers when creating or editing Buy It Now listings.

Turn on offers for new listings in the app: 

  1. Open the Whatnot app
  2. Tap Seller hub at the bottom of the screen
  3. Choose Create a Product 
  4. Scroll down to Pricing, and select Buy It Now
  5. Turn the toggle on next to Accept Offers

Turn on offers for new listings on whatnot.com: 

  1. Sign in to whatnot.com
  2. Click your account icon in the top right 
  3. From the Selling tab, select Seller Hub
  4. Open the Inventory page from the left menu
  5. Click Create Product
  6. Under Pricing, and select Buy It Now
  7. Turn the toggle on next to Accept Offers

You can also update this setting for any active listing you've already created.

When offers are enabled:

  • Buyers will see an Offer icon next to the product, whether from your shop or a live show (if reserved)
  • They can either suggest a percentage discount or enter a custom amount to offer

Note: If you import products from your shop to a live show, they'll  have offers turned on by default. If you use our CSV-upload feature, enter TRUE in the Offerable column to make sure that uploaded products will accept offers. See this CSV template for the updated fields.

Respond to offers 

You can respond to offers during a live show (if the product was reserved for the show and offers are enabled), or from Marketplace listings.

Respond to offers from a live show 

  1. From whatnot.com, open your scheduled show
  2. Click on Offers to review any incoming (you can search and sort too)
  3. You can choose to:
    • Accept the highest offer
    • Counter all offers
    • Reject all offers 

Respond to an offer from marketplace

In the Whatnot app:

  1. Tap Seller Hub at the bottom of the screen
  2. Choose menu icon (☰) in the top right
  3. Select Offers
  4. Find and select the offer you want to respond to
  5. Choose to decline, counter, or accept

On whatnot.com:

  1. Sign in to whatnot.com
  2. Click your account icon in the top right 
  3. From the Selling tab, select Seller Hub
  4. Hover over Inventory in the left menu
  5. Open the Offers page
  6. Find the offer and click Respond
  7. Choose to decline, counter, accept or message the buyer

Note: Offers that you haven't responded to yet will still show up on your Orders page (in the app and on web), with the status Waiting for seller. This just means you need to respond. 

What happens after you respond

  • If you accept, the buyer is charged and you’ll move on to packing and shipping the order.

  • If you counter, you can choose a custom amount. The buyer will be notified and can respond.

  • If you decline, the buyer will be notified.
