How to list products on Whatnot

Product Creation on Whatnot is the foundation of how your products are discovered by your buyers. Whether you're running auctions, flash sales, or Buy It Nows, adding your products ahead of time helps streamline your workflow, keep your show organized, and create a smoother experience for your buyers.

When listing a product there are two key decisions on how to sell:

  • Buy Formats: Decide how you want your buyers to purchase your product. 
    • Auction: Set a starting price and let buyers bid live (usually ~30 seconds).
    • Buy-It-Now: Fixed-price items available anytime during the show or in profile shop.
  • Sales Channels: Choose where you want your product listed. 
    • Live Show: Your Whatnot live show, everything is real time.
    • Profile Shop:  Your store in your profile. Buyers can visit your profile and see what you sell without you being live. Buyers can purchase items in your profile shop anytime.

 

Listing Products From Web

From Seller Hub

  1. Visit Seller Hub: https://seller.whatnot.com/ 
  2. Click “+” in the top right corner, and select “List an Item.”
  3. Add product media to your listing through one of the following paths:
    1. Upload media from your computer:
      1. Click the gray box that says “Click to Upload or drag and drop your media.”
      2. Choose your media and click “Open.”
    2. Drop and drop media from your computer:
      1. Drag media files into the gray box that says “Click to Upload or drag and drop your media.”
    3. Upload media from your phone (iOS or Android): 
      1. Click “Try It” on the right side of the purple box.
      2. Scan the QR code with your phone. 
      3. Follow the onscreen instructions to log into Whatnot.
      4. Tap “+ Add Photo.”
      5. Select media and tap “Add.”
  4. Populate the following fields:
    1. Product Details
      1. Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
      2. Title: Item name. Be as specific as possible and use keywords to help users search for and find items during your livestream.
      3. Description: Describe the item, including the condition. Be as detailed as you can. Note: Check out our item conditions guidelines to help identify your item's quality.
      4. Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
    2. Pricing
      1. Choose Buy It Now or Auction:
        1. Buy It Now (BIN): Items you want to showcase and sell at a fixed price.
          1. If you select Buy It Now, enter the Price at which you want to sell the item.
          2. Turn on Flash Sale if you would like to add a sale for a limited time. Ensure you have a starting price first before turning this on. You will have the option to control the discount type, amount, duration, and further controls.
          3. Turn on Accept Offers if you are willing to accept offers in shows and in the marketplace. You can accept, counter or decline the offers.
          4. You can also Reserve for Live, meaning that the product will only be purchasable from within a show. 
        2. Auction: Items you want to sell live in an auction, accepting bids from buyers to purchase.
          1. If you select Auction, enter the Starting Bid value (the price at which you want to start your item in your auction), and the Duration (how long you want your auction to be). 
          2. You also have the option to make the auction Sudden Death, meaning when you're down to 00:01, the last person to bid wins!
          3. You can also Reserve for Live, meaning that the product will only be biddable from within a show. 
    3. Shipping
      1. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item. 
      2. Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
  5. If you’re ready to publish the listing right away, click Publish; otherwise, click Save Draft.
    1. Manage and edit your listings in the Inventory page. 
    2. You can view your drafts in Seller Hub under Inventory -> All Inventory -> Drafts.

From a Show

  1. Visit https://seller.whatnot.com/ 
  2. Click Shows on the left navigation
  3. Find the show you want to list items and click Open show.
  4. Click the yellow Add button to the left of the bottom of the show window.

  1. Choose Listing Type: 
    • Temporary listing is a quick way to get an item live for a show with less required fields. Temporary Listings expire when your show ends.
    • Quality Listing: Includes full details, photos, and attributes—making it more discoverable and trusted by buyers. Quality Listings can help you earn Premier Shop.
    • Create Temporary Listing: 
      • Select whether you want the item to be sold as an Auction, Buy It Now, or Giveaway.
        • Auctions: Items you want to sell live in an auction, accepting bids from buyers to purchase. 
          • Enter the Starting Bid value (the price at which you want to start your item in your auction).
        • Buy it Now: Items you want to showcase and sell at a fixed price.
          • Enter the fixed price at which you want to sell the item.
          • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and turn on Flash Sale if you would like to add a sale for a limited time. Ensure you have a starting price first before turning this on. You will have the option to control the discount type, amount, duration, and further controls.
          • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and turn on on Accept Offers if you are willing to accept offers in shows and in the marketplace. You can accept, counter or decline the offers.
        • Giveaways: Giveaways on Whatnot are a fun way to boost engagement during your show—viewers enter for free, and winners are chosen live, helping you attract more eyeballs and build community.
      • Fill out the product details:
        1. Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
        2. Name: Item name. Be as descriptive as possible and include keywords to help users quickly search for and find specific items in your show.
        3. Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
        4. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item. 
        5. Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
      • Add Photos by clicking “+” and uploading media files from your computer. 

 

Listing Products From Mobile App

From Whatnot home

  1. Open the Whatnot mobile app on iOS or Android.
  2. Tap Seller Hub at the bottom navigation.
  3. Tap Create a Product.
  4. Tap Photos / Videos and add relevant media to your product listing (you’ll need at least one photo or video):
    1. Upload Media: Add at least one product photo or video (less than 30 seconds long).
    2. Take Photos: Use your mobile device’s camera to capture a product photo in real time.
    3. Record Video: Use your mobile device’s camera to capture a product video (less than 30 seconds long) in real time.
    4. Slab Scanning: Learn more about this beta feature here.
  5. Enter the following fields: 
      1. Product Details:
        1. Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
        2. Title: Item name. Be as descriptive as possible and include keywords to help users quickly search for and find specific items in your show.
        3. Description: Describe the item, including the condition. Be as detailed as you can. Note: Check out our item conditions guidelines to help identify your item's quality. 
      2. Pricing: Select either Buy It Now for items that will be sold at a fixed price or Auction for items that will be bidded upon for a specified time duration.

      3. Shipping

        2. Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
  1. Tap Publish.

From a live show

  1. Open the Whatnot mobile app on iOS or Android.
  2. Tap Seller Hub at the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap into one of your scheduled shows.
  4. Tap the “store” icon in the bottom right corner of your side menu.
  5. Tap the round “+” icon in the bottom right corner.
  6. Choose Listing Type: 
    • Temporary listing is a quick way to get an item live for a show with less required fields. Temporary Listings expire when your show ends.
    • Quality Listing: Includes full details, photos, and attributes—making it more discoverable and trusted by buyers. Quality Listings can help you earn Premier Shop.

Create Temporary Listing

        1. Enter the following fields:
          1. Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
          2. Title: Item name. Be as descriptive as possible and include keywords to help users quickly search for and find specific items in your show.
          3. Select Buy It Now for items that will be sold at a fixed price, Auction for items that will be bidded upon for a specified time duration, or Giveaway for products that will be given away in your show.
            1. Buy It Now: 
              1. Price: Enter the price at which you want to sell the item.
              2. Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
              3. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item.
              4. Enable Offers: Toggle on if you are willing to accept offers in shows and in the marketplace. You can accept, counter or decline the offers.
              5. Surprise Product Set: Turn this on if the item is a part of a Surprise Product Set.
              6. Contains Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
            2. For Auction: 
              1. Starting Bid:  Enter the price / bid value at which you want to start your item in your auction.
              2. Time Limit: Choose how long you want your auction to be. 
              3. Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
              4. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item.
              5. Sudden Death: Toggle on for an auction in which when you're down to 00:01, the last person to bid wins.
              6. Surprise Sets: Turn this on if the item is a part of a Surprise Set.
              7. Contains Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
            3. Giveaway:
              1. Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
              2. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item.
              3. Contains Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
              4. Who can enter: Choose what kind of giveaway you want to run.
                1. Buyer Appreciation: Turn this on if you only want those who have bought from you in the same show to enter the giveaway.
                2. Followers Only: Turn this on if you only want those who are following you to enter the giveaway.
                3. Everyone: Turn this on if you want any user to be able to enter the giveaway using the “Enter Giveaway” button once the giveaway goes live in your show.
                4. International Shipping: Turn this on if you’re okay with shipping the giveaway item internationally. You will incur all shipping costs.
        2. Tap Add Listing.

Create a Quality Listing

          1. Enter the following fields: 
            1. Product Details:
              1. Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
              2. Title: Item name. Be as descriptive as possible and include keywords to help users quickly search for and find specific items in your show.
              3. Description: Describe the item, including the condition. Be as detailed as you can. Note: Check out our item conditions guidelines to help identify your item's quality. 
            2. Pricing: Select either Buy It Now for items that will be sold at a fixed price or Auction for items that will be bid upon for a specified time duration.
              1. For Buy It Now: 
                1. Price: Enter the price at which you want to sell the item.
                2. Accept Offers: Toggle on if you are willing to accept offers in shows and in the marketplace. You can accept, counter or decline the offers.
                3. Reserve for Live: Toggle on if the product will only be purchasable from within a show. 
              2. For Auction: 
                1. Starting Bid:  Enter the price / bid value at which you want to start your item in your auction.
                2. Auction Duration: Choose how long you want your auction to be. 
                3. Sudden Death: Toggle on for an auction in which when you're down to 00:01, the last person to bid wins.
                4. Reserve for Live: Toggle on if the product will only be biddable from within a show.
            3. Shipping
              1. Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to indicate the weight of your item. 
              2. Hazardous Materials: Indicate whether your item contains any hazardous materials, which include fragrances, nail polish, electronics containing lithium batteries, and any items that may pose risks to health and safety.
          2. Tap Add Listing.
      2. Import from Inventory: 
        1. Select at least one product (you’re welcome to select multiple products) from your profile shop and past shows; they will be imported with all their field values, e.g., Title, Category, Description, into your show’s shop. You can leverage the navigation tabs, filters, and search bar to find your items quickly.
        2. Tap Import [number of select items] Item[s].

Drafts

From whatnot.com or the app, you can also save product listings as drafts to be finished up later or published right before a big show. 

Once a draft is published, the active product listing may accrue actions, e.g., saves, views, pre-bids, so that active listing cannot be converted back to a draft state; however, you can deactivate the listing and reactivate it as needed.

To save a draft, just follow the steps above to create a listing, then select Save Draft. You can save a draft at any point during the listing process. 

To publish a draft and make it purchasable:

  1. Go to your Inventory page in Seller Hub
  2. Open the Drafts tab
  3. Select the draft you want to publish
  4. Pick up where you left off and hit Publish
