Some sellers use USPS First-Class Mail Letter (FCML), also known as Plain White Envelope (PWE) shipping, to send small, lightweight items like trading cards or stickers at a lower cost.
If your order qualifies, it’ll automatically ship with this method.
Items shipped via FCML are packaged in a paper envelope or flat paper mailer. Bubble mailers, cardboard packages, poly mailers, or any plastic packaging aren’t accepted for this shipping option.

Which orders use FCML?
Your order may ship with FCML if all of the following are true:
- The item is sold in the Trading Card Games, Sports Cards, or Stickers categories.
- The item is purchased from a live show where the seller has enabled FCML.
- The shipment is domestic (U.S. seller to U.S. buyer).
- The total weight is 3 oz or less.
- The total value is $20 or less.
- There are 5 cards or fewer in the shipment.
If an order doesn’t qualify—for example, it exceeds 3oz or $20 in value—Whatnot automatically upgrades shipping to USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail. These services include full tracking and better protection for your order. The shipping cost may update to match the upgraded service. Learn more about US shipping prices.
How much does FCML shipping cost?
As of July 13, 2025, FCML label prices range from $0.74 to $1.32 depending on weight, plus a small Whatnot service fee.
You’ll see the exact shipping cost at checkout and can review it anytime in your receipt.

How can I track my FCML order?
FCML shipments offer limited tracking, which means:
- Tracking updates appear only on Whatnot, not the USPS website
- You may see up to three tracking events, for example:
- In transit (accepted by USPS)
- Origin processing (scanned at a USPS facility)
- Delivered (marked as delivered)
- Tracking updates can take 24–72 hours after shipping to appear on Whatnot
Some FCML envelopes aren’t tracked if the barcode is smudged, torn, or damaged during process and handling.
You can check your order status on Whatnot under Activity > Purchases. Learn how.
When will my FCML order arrive?
Most FCML orders arrive within 5–14 business days after shipment.
FCML delivery times can vary depending on USPS mail volume, location, and other factors, especially during holidays or high-volume periods.
