Create a video listing (Beta)

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

Video listings let you add a short video to a shop listing so buyers can see your item in motion.

This feature is currently in beta. It’s available to select sellers and may change or experience downtime as we improve it.

Before you start

If you have access to video listings:

  • You can only create video listings in the Whatnot iOS app.

  • Video listings are viewable in the mobile app only (iOS today, Android coming soon).

  • You can create either a Buy It Now (BIN) or auction listing with video.

What buyers see

When a buyer opens your video listing in the app:

  • The video plays in a full-screen view.

  • In the feed, the video may autoplay.

  • Buyers can tap the bottom of the screen to view:

    • Description

    • Attributes

    • Price

    • Other listing details

You can preview what buyers see by finding and viewing the listing from your Profile > Shop.

Create a video listing

  1. Open the Whatnot app on iOS

  2. Tap Seller Hub at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap Create Product.

  4. In the Media section, tap Photos / Videos / Scan

  5. Choose one:

    • Upload Media (videos must be 30 seconds or less), or

    • Record a video

  6. If recording a new video, tap the red button to start filming.

    • You can record up to 30 seconds.

    • Audio is recorded with your video.

  7. Tap Add Video when you’re done, or tap Retake to record again.

  8. Add at least one photo (required).

  9. Complete the rest of the listing details and Publish.

Note: If you reserve the video listing for a show, viewers may not see the video from your Live Shop. They can still view it from your Profile > Shop.

Edit a video listing

Edit a video listing from Seller Hub > Inventory or by finding the listing from your Profile > Shop.

From here, you can:

  • Delete and replace the video.

  • Update listing details.

  • Change the thumbnail image.

Change the thumbnail image

The thumbnail is always the first photo in your listing.

To change it:

  1. Edit the listing.

  2. Delete your current photo.

  3. Re-upload your photos in the order you want, placing your preferred image first.
