Apply to sell on Whatnot

Once you’ve created a Whatnot account, you can apply to sell live by submitting a short seller application. It only takes a few minutes to complete, and you’ll be directed to a quick tutorial at the end before you can go live.

You can sell in most categories on Whatnot once approved, but Luxury Bags & Accessories, Surprise Sets in Sneakers & Streetwear, and Wholesale require extra approval. Learn more about selling in gated categories. 

You’ll also need to meet a few basic requirements to apply:

• Be located in a country where Whatnot selling is supported.

• Be at least 13 years old. Sellers aged 13–17 require a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision. Learn more about teens on Whatnot.

Step-by-step application process

1. Start your seller application 

1. Open the app
2. Tap the + Sell button at the bottom of the screen
3. Tap Get Started to begin your application 

2. Agree To Whatnot's Guidelines 

Review and agree to our community guidelines, which help keep Whatnot a fun and safe space for everyone.

3. Choose your main seller category

Choose the category you’re most interested in selling in. You can sell in more than one category, but pick the one you’ll sell in most often. You may be asked to select a subcategory depending on what you choose.

4. Tell us about your selling experience

Choose the option that best matches your experience. 

5. Share your monthly sales revenue

If you’re already selling online or in person, let us know how much revenue you typically generate per month.

6. Tell us where else you've sold

Select any online or in-person platforms where you’re actively selling. This helps us tailor your seller experience.

7. Add your social media links

If you use social media to sell or promote your items, enter your platforms and links. Make sure links are typed correctly.

8. Enter your return address

Type your full legal name as it appears on your government-issued ID. Once you get seller access, you can update it later in Seller Hub if you prefer to use an alias.

You can also enter a PO Box or business name, as long as it’s at least 2 characters.

 

9. Complete your application 

That's it! Once you submit, you’ll be redirected to Seller 101, a short tutorial that’s required before you can go live and create listings.
