The New Seller Sales Match Bonus

To help you get started and reward the first steps in your Whatnot journey, we're excited to offer the New Seller Sales Match Bonus.

How it works

Whatnot will match your sales up to a maximum amount across the bonus period.

What does it mean to “match sales”?

For every 1 unit of your local currency you earn from eligible item sales, Whatnot gives you an equal amount.

Example: 

• A buyer purchases an item for 10 (+ shipping + taxes)
• Whatnot gives you an additional 10 to match the cost of the item you sold 

When does the bonus period start and how long is it?

The bonus period starts as soon as you are given selling access. 

While the bonus period is is active, you’ll see a banner in the Whatnot app home feed with:

• Your progress
• Time remaining
• Maximum bonus available

The bonus amount, length, and requirements vary based on your location and what you sell.

Bonus periods cannot be restarted or extended once they begin. 

What are the requirements to earn the Sales Match Bonus?

To be eligible for the Sales Match Bonus you must complete both of the following:

1. Go live for a minimum duration (example, 120 minutes)
2. Sell to a minimum number of unique buyers (example, sell to at least 5 different buyers)

How do I track my progress?

The banner on your home feed (screenshot below) shows how much you can earn, your progress toward the requirements, and the time remaining to complete them. Tap the banner for a more detailed view.

Once you’ve earned your bonus, you’ll see a banner that will help you track when your payment is coming.

How much can I earn with the Sales Match Bonus?

Examples: Here are sample scenarios to show how earning the bonus works. Requirements, bonus amounts, and eligibility may vary by location, but the overall structure is similar.

For these examples, let’s assume:

• The maximum Sales Match Bonus a seller can earn is $150
• The requirements include:
  • Going live for at least 120 minutes
  • Selling to at least 5 different buyers

Example 1:

1. 150 minutes live  (meets the 120 minutes requirement ✅)
2. 7 different buyers (meets the 5 different buyers requirement ✅)
3. $120 in total sales
4. This seller would be paid a $120 bonus by Whatnot, matching the total amount of sales they made during the bonus period

Example 2:

1. 300 minutes live (meets the 120 minutes requirement ✅)
2. 20 different buyers (meets the 5 different buyers requirement ✅)
3. $500 in total sales
4. This seller would be paid a $150 bonus by Whatnot. While their total sales were $500, the Sales Match Bonus has a maximum payout of $150.

Example 3:

1. 90 minutes live (does not meet the 120 minutes requirement ❌)
2. 8 different buyers (meets the 5 different buyers requirement ✅)
3. $180 in total sales
4. This seller would not be paid the Sales Match Bonus because they did not meet the minimum livestream duration requirement, even though they exceeded the maximum potential bonus amount in sales and met the unique buyer requirement.

When will I be paid my Sales Match Bonus?

Your bonus payment will be added to your Whatnot account balance within 14 days of the end of the bonus period after all of the following conditions are met:

1. You have completed all the requirements for the Sales Match Bonus (i.e. livestream duration, number of different buyers).
2. The last order that contributed towards your matched sales was shipped*

*In order to be paid out, all orders that qualified for the Sales Match Bonus must be shipped. Delays in shipping out your orders can lead to a delayed payout.

Example 1: Reaching the maximum bonus amount before the end of the bonus period

• A new seller has a Sales Match Bonus with a maximum of $150. The bonus period lasts for 7 days.
• On Day 3, they meet all the activity requirements (e.g., live for the required time, sold to enough unique buyers) and their total sales reach $150.
• The last sale that brought their total to $150 was completed on Day 3.
• This seller would receive their $150 bonus within 14 days after Day 3 (assuming all orders have been shipped)

Example 2: Reaching less than the maximum bonus amount at the end of the bonus period

• A new seller has a Sales Match Bonus with a maximum of $150. The bonus period lasts for 7 days.
• On Day 2, they meet all the activity requirements (e.g., live for the required time, sold to enough unique buyers)
• However, by the end of the 7-day bonus period, their total sales only reached $100.
• This seller would receive their $100 bonus approximately 14 days after Day 7 (the end of the bonus period) – assuming all orders have been shipped.

Where will I see the payment?

The payment will show up in the Seller Hub with the label “New Seller Sales Match Bonus”. See below for where to access:

Terms & Conditions

The Cash Match for New Sellers promotion (the “Offer”) is designed to give sellers who are new to the Whatnot community a way to be rewarded and encouraged as they make their first sales on Whatnot. The Offer is subject to the following terms and conditions.

Sales Eligibility. In order for your sales to qualify for the Offer, they must be made during livestreams  in which you have completed an auction or BIN sale. Please track sales progress on the incentive banner in the mobile app (each sale that meets the criteria in this paragraph, an “Eligible Sale”). Please note, local pick-up orders and orders made in private livestreams are not eligible for this incentive.

Offer. For eligible sellers, Whatnot will provide 1 unit of local currency for every 1 unit earned (exclusive of taxes and fees), up to the maximum amount stated in-app, beginning as soon as live access is granted and ending exactly after the stated timeline in-app.

Limitations. Rewards will be credited to the accounts of Eligible New Sellers within 14 days following the end of the bonus period, provided shipment of the items corresponding to the respective Eligible Sales. This timeline may be delayed in Whatnot’s sole discretion, including if, for example, Whatnot determines that there is indicia of fraud or a violation of these Terms & Conditions or Whatnot’s Terms of Service. The reward, when combined with the value received from all other offers in the current calendar year, may not exceed $/£/€1,500 per household per year. In the event that Whatnot determines in its sole discretion that there may have been fraudulent activity, a violation of these Terms and Conditions, or a violation of the Whatnot Terms of Service in connection with the offer or the Eligible New User account, Whatnot reserves the right to either decline to grant the rewards, or to rescind the applicable rewards. Limit one Offer per qualified Eligible New User, accounts related to users who have already received this offer are not eligible. Whatnot cannot provide information about someone else’s account. Whatnot reserves the right to decline to grant or rescind a reward if Whatnot determines in its sole discretion that there are images or speech in connection with the referrer's live streams that are inaccurate, misleading, offensive, or violate the Whatnot Community Guidelines or Terms of Service; or infringes on Whatnot's intellectual property rights, constitutes a domain name, creates the potential for confusion as to whether the page or content in question is Whatnot’s, or is otherwise improper. Whatnot reserves the right to change the offer terms or terminate the offer at any time without notice. The offer is not transferable, saleable, or valid in conjunction with certain other offers. The offer is only available for personal use, and may not be used for commercial purposes.

Taxes. All taxes related to this offer are the customer’s sole responsibility.
