Want to support your favorite sellers beyond buying? Send a tip as a quick way to say thanks.

You can send tips directly in the Whatnot app.

Check if you can tip a seller

  • Tipping is only available in the Whatnot app in the US, Canada, UK, and France
  • You and the seller must both be in the same supported country

Tipping guidelines 

  • You can tip between $/£/€1–$100 depending on your location 
  • There’s a daily limit of: 
    • $/£/€200 or 10 tips per seller, per livestream
    • $/£/€500 in total tips per day
  • Tips are nonrefundable
  • Buyers (tippers) cover payment processing fees, which are shown before you confirm the tip
  • You can only send tips using Whatnot's built-in tipping features
  • Tips can’t be used to avoid fees or sell products. Doing so may result in account action for the buyer and seller.  
  • Tips messages must follow Whatnot's Community Guidelines. To report one, go to the person's profile and use the report tool

How to tip a seller

Tip during a live show

  1. From the Whatnot app, open a seller’s show
  2. Tap their profile icon in the top left 
  3. Tap Tip or Boost
  4. Select Send Tip
  5. Choose a tip amount (you can't enter a custom amount)
  6. (Optional) Add a thank you note
  7. Tap Next, then review your payment info 
  8. Tap Send Tip

If the seller has tipping alerts on, your tip (and note if added) will appear in the livestream chat.

Tip from a seller’s profile

You can tip a seller any time from their profile:

  1. In the app, go to the seller’s profile
  2. Tap Tip Me
  3. Choose a tip amount (you can't enter a custom amount
  4. (Optional) Add a thank you note
  5. Tap Next, then review your payment method
  6.  Send Tip

The seller will get a notification, and your note will show up in their DMs.


View your tipping history 

After you send a tip, you'll get a confirmation email.

To view the full history of tips you've sent: 

  1. Open the Whatnot app
  2. Tap Activity 
  3. Under Purchases, scroll through filters and select Tips

You’ll find a list of who you tipped, how much, how long ago, and during which show (if applicable).
