Bulk import products from a CSV file

If you have a large inventory, you can save time by importing your products with a CSV (comma-separated values) file instead of creating listings one by one.

You can use a CSV to:

  • Create draft listings in your Inventory that you can edit and publish later.
  • Create temporary listings for a specific show.

Note: CSV imports are only available on whatnot.com from a desktop or laptop. They aren't available in the app.

Step one: Create your CSV file

1. Download the correct template

Choose a template based on your location and/or category:

Tip: If you're a seller in Japan and have trouble downloading the template because of Japanese characters, download the .xlsx version first. Then save it as a .csv file before uploading it to Whatnot.

2. Fill out the template

Open the template in Google Sheets and make a copy before editing.

For each product, add:

  • Category
  • Sub Category
  • Title
  • Description
  • Quantity
  • Type
  • Price
  • Shipping Profile
  • Condition (if required)
  • Image URLs (up to eight)

Important: The values for Category, Sub Category, Type, Condition, and Shipping Profile must exactly match the approved values listed in the template's Values tab. Don't modify the spelling, capitalization, or formatting of these fields.

Additional notes:

  • Shipping Profile: Choose one of the shipping profiles listed in the template, or enter the name of a custom shipping profile you've already created in Whatnot. Don't enter your own weight values.
  • Offerable: For Buy It Now listings, enter TRUE if you want buyers to submit offers. 
  • Image URLs: Images must be publicly accessible, use https://, and not require a password or sign-in.

When you're finished, download the file as a CSV.

Step two: Upload your CSV file

Choose where you want to import your listings.

Option 1: Import to Inventory

Choose this option if you want reusable listings that you can edit and publish later.

  1. From whatnot.com, go to your Inventory ↗ in Seller Hub. 
  2. Select Import from CSV. 
  3. Choose your CSV file.
  4. Select Import.

After the upload:

  • Your products are saved as draft listings in your Inventory ↗.
  • Add at least one image to each listing before publishing.
  • You can edit, publish, duplicate, or add listings to a show later.

Option 2: Upload to a show

Choose this option if you want temporary listings for a specific show.

  1. From whatnot.com, go to your Shows ↗  sin Seller Hub. 
  2. Open the show you want to update.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Select Create Temporary Listing.
  5. Select Upload CSV.
  6. Choose your CSV file.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are images required?

No. You can upload products without images.

If you import products to your Inventory ↗, each listing must have at least one image before you can publish it. You can add images after the upload while the listing is still a draft.

Why aren't my image URLs working?

Image URLs must:

  • Use https://
  • Be publicly accessible
  • Not require a password or sign-in

If you're using an image hosting service, services like ImgBB, Imgur, or WeTransfer work well.

You can also test an image URL in a private or incognito browser window. If it loads there, it should work in your CSV.

Can I use CSV imports for listings outside of shows?

Yes. Import your CSV to your Inventory ↗ to create draft listings that you can publish to your Profile Shop.

Can I include additional product attributes?

Yes. If you're uploading Coins & Bullion products, you can include additional attributes supported by the CSV template.

Support for more categories and attributes will be added over time.

What if I made a mistake?

Each CSV import creates new draft listings.

If you need to make changes, you can:

  • Edit the draft listings in your Inventory ↗, or
  • Bulk delete the drafts and upload an updated CSV to avoid duplicate listings.

If you need to update multiple listings, you can also use bulk editing after the import
