Update your username or name

You can update your username or name by editing your Whatnot profile. 

All profile information, including your username and name, should follow Whatnot's Community Guidelines. Choose something that represents you well and keeps Whatnot a positive, welcoming space for everyone.

Change your username 

Your username is visible to others across Whatnot on your profile, in chat, on orders, and more. 

Before your change your username:  

  • You can only change your username when you have no pending orders as a buyer or seller. Wait until all orders are marked Complete (usually about 30 days after delivery).

  • You can change your username once every 24 hours.

  • Your username can only include lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores (_). It can't include spaces or special characters, and must be 30 characters or fewer.

Note: Keep your account active to avoid automatic username changes or account deactivation.

Change your username on the app
  1. Tap your Account icon in the bottom right.
  2. Tap View Profile next to your username.
  3. Tap Edit Profile.
  4. Select the Username field and enter your new username.
  5. Save your changes.
Change your username on web
  1. From whatnot.com, click your account icon in the top right.
  2. Choose Account Settings.
  3. Select View Profile on the top left.
  4. Click Edit Profile.
  5. In the Username field, enter your new username.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Change your name

Your name appears publicly on your profile. 

You can update it anytime, and use your first name, full name, or a nickname that feels right for you. 

Note: If you'd like to keep your name private instead, contact our support team. 

Change your name on the app
  1. Tap your Account icon in the bottom right corner.
  2. Tap View Profile next to your username.
  3. Tap Edit Profile.
  4. Select the Name field and enter your new name.
  5. Save your changes.
Change your name on web
  1. From whatnot.com, click your account icon in the top right.
  2. Choose Account Settings.
  3. Select View Profile on the top left.
  4. Click Edit Profile.
  5. In the Name field, enter your new name.
  6. Click Save Changes.
