Signature confirmation for buyers

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

For some high-value U.S. shipments, you’ll need to sign for your package when it’s delivered.

This extra step helps protect your purchase by confirming it was delivered directly to someone at your address.

When is a signature required?

You may need to sign on delivery if:

  • The seller chooses to add signature confirmation, or
  • The shipment is $500 or more in eligible categories where automatic signature confirmation applies.

In both cases, the seller covers the cost of signature confirmation.

Once your item ships, your order details page and email confirmation will let you know if a signature is required.

Note: Signature confirmation is currently available only for shipments within the U.S.

What happens if I'm not home?

If no one is available to sign, the carrier will usually:

  • Attempt delivery again, or
  • Hold the package at a local facility for pickup.

Check your tracking details or carrier notice for next steps.

If the package isn’t picked up within the carrier’s timeframe, it may be returned to the seller.

Can I turn off signature confirmation?

You may turn off signature confirmation for future shipments from your account settings.

Note: If you turn this off, high-value shipments that would otherwise require a signature can be delivered without one. If one of those packages is marked delivered and later reported missing, it won’t be eligible for a refund under Buyer Protection.

From the app:

  1. Tap Account.
  2. Choose Payments & Shipping.
  3. Under Shipping Preferences, turn off Allow Signature Confirmation.

From web:

  1. From whatnot.com, select your Account icon in the top right.
  2. Open your Account Settings, then Preferences
  3. Turn off Allow Signature Confirmation.

This setting may not be available for all accounts.
