How to Get a VAT Invoice for Your Purchases

As a buyer, you may have a need for a VAT invoice for your purchases on Whatnot. Sellers can now generate VAT invoices directly on Whatnot for you! Once a seller has generated a VAT invoice, you’ll be able to download it from your order details page. This feature is available for all European buyers at this time.

How to Access Your VAT Invoice

1. Open the Purchases tab on Whatnot
2. Select the order you’d like the invoice for
3. If the seller has issued a VAT invoice, you can then access the VAT invoice via the Order Detail page or the Receipt & Payment Details page
4. You’ll see a VAT Invoice section with a Download button.

5. Tap Download to save the invoice to your device

What if I Don’t See a VAT Invoice?

If you need a VAT invoice and don’t see the option to download one, this means the seller has not yet generated it. In that case, please reach out directly to the seller (e.g., via DM on Whatnot) and request that they create the invoice for your order.

FAQs

Can Whatnot create a VAT invoice for me?

VAT invoices for purchases on Whatnot can only be generated by sellers. If you need one, you must request it from the seller. 

Will I get notified when a VAT invoice is created?

No. Invoices are added directly to your order details page once generated. You’ll need to check your order page to see if it’s available.

Can I get one invoice for multiple orders?

VAT invoices are created per shipment. If you have multiple orders or purchases in one shipment, the invoice will include all items for that one shipment together. Note: this may differ where you have purchased goods subject to the VAT second hand margin scheme within a shipment. 

Does the invoice include Whatnot’s fees or charges?

No. The VAT invoice is only for items purchased from the seller. If you need a VAT invoice for shipping fees paid on an order, you can request that from Whatnot by contacting support.
