USPS Ground Advantage (GA) is the default shipping service on Whatnot for eligible domestic shipments within the U.S.
Packages travel by ground instead of air, offering an affordable way to ship packages weighing up to 70 pounds, with delivery times similar to Priority Mail.

When Ground Advantage applies
If you're a U.S.-based seller, Ground Advantage is your default shipping service, but you can choose a different eligible USPS service in your shipping settings.
Available services vary by shipment, and hazardous materials must be shipped with Ground Advantage.
Ground Advantage pricing
As of July 31, 2026, Whatnot-negotiated Ground Advantage rates are:
| Package weight | Shipping price |
| Up to 4 oz | $4.47 ($4.25 + fees*) |
| Over 4 oz, up to 8 oz | $4.85 ($4.65 + fees*) |
| Over 8 oz, up to 12 oz | $5.25 ($5.00 + fees*) |
| Over 12 oz, under 16 oz (1 lb) | $6.75 ($6.25 + fees*) |
| 1 to 5 lbs | $7.75 ($6.85 + fees*) |
*Ground Advantage shipping costs include the USPS label price plus a small operational fee that supports features like Smart Bundling.
How GA pricing works
- Under 1 lb: Pricing is based on the package's weight, not how far it travels.
- 1 to 5 lbs: The negotiated shipping rate is $7.75, no matter the package's weight or destination.
- Over 5 lbs: Uses discounted rates based on the package’s weight and the distance it travels, measured in USPS zones.
Note: The Whatnot-negotiated rates described apply only to shipments within the contiguous U.S. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii use standard USPS USPS Commercial Ground Advantage pricing.
Package for Ground Advantage shipments
Use your own packaging for Ground Advantage shipments.
Don't use free USPS Priority Mail or Flat Rate packaging. Your packaging must match the shipping service on your label.
Using Priority Mail or Flat Rate packaging with a Ground Advantage label may result in:
- Additional USPS carrier fees up to $20 per package charged to your Whatnot account
- Shipping delays
- Returned packages
Ship hazardous materials with Ground Advantage
Ground Advantage is currently the only available shipping method for fragrances, nail polish, and electronics.
When you create a listing for one of these items, Whatnot automatically uses Ground Advantage shipping. You can also identify a listing as containing hazardous materials during listing creation or while adjusting shipments.
If a buyer purchases multiple items that are bundled into one shipment, the entire shipment will use Ground Advantage if at least one item contains hazardous materials.
Be sure to follow all hazardous material shipping guidelines when handling them.
GA delivery times and tracking
USPS estimates Ground Advantage packages will arrive within 2–5 business days. Depending on the destination, weather, holidays, or carrier delays, delivery may take up to 14 days.
Ground Advantage includes carrier tracking:
- You can track shipments from the Shipments page in Seller Hub.
- Buyers can follow their orders from their order details page. Learn more.
