You can start a live show on Whatnot using a single device, but using two devices can make hosting easier.
With two devices, one becomes your camera and the other becomes your controller, so you can manage your show without interrupting your stream.
How it works
Start your show from your first device. This device becomes your camera for the entire stream.
Join the show from a second device. Once you’re live, open Whatnot on another phone or computer and join the same show.
Use the second device to control your show. Create listings, run auctions, pin items, start giveaways, and handle everything else without touching your camera device.
Use any supported device. The second device can be any device that supports the Whatnot app or whatnot.com.
How to use two devices
Step 1: Start your show (camera device)
Open Whatnot on the device that you want to use as your camera.
Go to your Seller Hub > Shows.
Open the show and select Start Show.
Your show will now run through this device's camera.
Step 2: Join from a second device (controller device)
Open Whatnot on your second device.
Go to your profile, and tap the Shows tab.
Open the show that’s currently live.
Once opened, you can control the show from this device, while the first device continues to stream video.
Tips for using two devices
- Test first: Schedule a private show if you want to practice using two devices without an audience.
Avoid echoes: On your secondary device (controller), make sure to turn the volume all the way down. Otherwise, the mic on your primary device (camera) may pick up sound and create feedback.
