Scheduling a Live Show

This article outlines how to schedule a live show both on the mobile app, as well as on the web. This article also includes how to schedule multiple live shows at once and edit a scheduled stream. 

Scheduling a Live Show on the App

1. Open the Whatnot app on your mobile device.
2. Tap the Plus (+) symbol in the top right corner of the screen and select Schedule a live show.
3. Enter a Show title and Show description.
4. Choose your preferred moderators:
   1. Tap the field under Moderators
   2. Search for and tap on the users you want to add.
   3. Tap the top left corner of the app to return to the scheduling window.
5. Select a Date and Time for the show.
6. To schedule multiple live shows, tap the Repeat dropdown and choose either Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. (Please note, this is only available on the iOS app at this time.)
7. Add a thumbnail and preview video (optional). You can add these later if you want. Note: The aspect ratio for thumbnail images in the feed is 11:17, while preview images and videos inside of a scheduled show are 9:16.  Show thumbnail dimensions of 1080x1920 are recommended. Please also note that your thumbnail in the feed will be slightly cropped compared to the view inside of your scheduled show. You can find our thumbnail guide here.
8. Tap the + button under Category and choose the category you'll sell under for that show.
   1. Please note, if your category is incorrect, your show will appear in the category you have selected. Ex: If you are selling sports cards, but you show's category is hydration, your show will appear in hydration and not sports cards. 
9. Tap + Add Tags to add tags that will make your livestream discoverable in the app. 
10. Under Content settings, tap the toggle next to each setting to turn it on.
    • Explicit content: Turn this on if your stream will contain explicit language. Check our Community Guidelines to ensure you're following our rules related to explicit content.
    • Mute words: Turn this on if you want to mute certain words in your chat. Messages containing muted words will be flagged and will not be visible to your viewers. 
    • Private stream: Turn this on if you want to host a test livestream, meaning that your followers will not be alerted and no one will be able to join without a link to the stream. Learn more. 
11. You can edit your scheduled show by opening the scheduled stream and clicking the three dots on the right side of your screen.
12. To start your steam, open the scheduled stream and then click Start Show

Scheduling a Live Show on the Web

1. Open the Whatnot app on your mobile device.
2. Click the profile icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen, then click My Livestreams. 
3. Select Create Stream. 
4. Enter a Show title and Show description.
5. Select a Date and Time for the show.
6. Click Choose to the right of Choose a Category and select the category you'll sell under for that show. Then click Done. 
7. Select Add to the right of Add tags to your livestream and choose the tags that will help others discover your livestream. 
8. Choose your preferred moderators:
   1. Click the Add button under Moderators.
   2. Search for and select the users you want to add.
   3. Click Done to return to scheduling your livestream.
9. Add a thumbnail and preview video (optional). You can also add these later if you want. 
10. Under Content settings, click the toggle next to each setting to turn it on.

11. Once a live show is scheduled, it will show up under Your Shows. To start the show, click on Open Show and then hit Start Stream

Can I cancel or reschedule one of my shows?

Yes! If you need to reschedule or cancel a show, you can open the show in either the web or the mobile app. Then select the "more" icon on the right side of the live show. 

You can cancel the show here, or your can select edit show and change the start time!
