Edit your Whatnot profile

What’s on your profile

Your profile is visible to everyone on Whatnot. It includes:

  • Profile picture (thumbnail): appears next to your username across Whatnot – in chat, on your profile, and on orders.
  • Banner image: the large image across the top of your profile 
  • Bio: a short description of you or your shop.
  • Name and username:  Your username is visible across Whatnot – on your profile, in chat, on orders, and more. Your name appears publicly on your profile.

Important: All profile content must follow Whatnot’s Community Guidelines.

Edit your profile

On the app:

  1. Tap your Account icon in the bottom right.
  2. Tap View Profile next to your username.
  3. Tap Edit Profile.
  4. Update your profile picture, banner, bio, or name
  5. Save your changes.

On whatnot.com:

  1. From whatnot.com, click your account icon in the top right.
  2. Choose Account Settings.
  3. Select View Profile on the top left.
  4. Click Edit Profile.
  5. Make your updates and click Save Changes

Image and Bio requirements

Profile picture 

  • File types supported: JPEG, JPG, PNG
  • Max file size: 7 MB
  • Recommended dimensions: No explicit ratio required. However, to avoid distortion, aim to upload square image (e.g., 1024 × 1024 px)

Banner image

  • File types supported: JPEG, JPG, PNG
  • Max file size: 7 MB
  • Recommended dimensions: No explicit ratio required. However, to avoid distortion, aim wide image with 3:1 ratio (e.g., 1500 x 500 px)

Bio

  • Character limit: 1000 characters
  • Bio cannot contain HTML, code, or embedded images. Please use plain text.

FAQs

Why can’t I change my username?

Usernames have extra requirements that may block some change attempts. See Change your username or name.

Who can see my profile?

Profiles are public. Anyone on Whatnot can view your profile picture, banner, bio, name, username, and follower counts.

What happens if my profile content violates the Community Guidelines?

Whatnot may remove the content or take action on your account. See the Whatnot Community Guidelines.
