You can request to cancel an order through Whatnot before it ships. The seller will review your request and decide whether to approve it. 

If your request is approved, you'll receive a full refund. If it's declined, or if the seller doesn't respond within 48 hours, your order will ship as normal.

Because all bids are binding under our Community Guidelines, cancellations aren't guaranteed.

When you can request cancellation on Whatnot

You can submit a cancellation request to the seller on Whatnot:  

  • Any time before the seller creates a shipping label. 
  • Within 24 hours of purchase, as long as the order has not been shipped. 

Note: Trust is core to the Whatnot community. Frequent cancellation requests may lead to account action under our Community Guidelines.


How to request cancellation 

You can request cancellation for individual items in an order.

Request cancellation from the app
  1. From the Whatnot app, tap Activity activity icon.
  2. Select Purchases.
  3. Choose the order.
  4. Tap Get help with this purchase.
  5. Select Request cancellation. 
  6. Submit your request.

  1. From whatnot.com, click the Activity iconactivity icon in the top right.
  2. Under the Purchases tab, select the order you want to cancel.
  3. Choose Get help with this purchase.
  4. Click I need help with something else.
  5. Select Submit a cancellation request.
  6. Submit your request. 


What happens after 

Your request is sent to the seller, and your order status changes to Pending Cancellation

The seller has 48 hours to respond:

  • If approved: Your order is canceled and refunded to your original payment method within 3–5 business days.
  • If declined or there’s no response within 48 hours: The order remains final and will ship as scheduled.

For bundled orders: If an item is part of a bundle and cancellation is approved, only that item will be refunded, including its portion of shipping. The rest of the bundle will remain unless you request cancellation for those items too.

Tip: Check your order status anytime under Activity > Purchases.


When Whatnot may step in

Cancellation requests are managed directly by the seller.

In limited situations, Whatnot Support may review a request or make an exception:

  • Bidding error (auction purchases only): If you experienced a technical issue while bidding, contact Whatnot Support within 2 hours. Include details and screenshots, if available.
  • One-time exception: If a shipping label hasn’t been created and you haven’t received an exception before, Whatnot may approve a one-time cancellation for eligible buyers. This doesn’t apply to Card Breaks or items that can be used or consumed on-screen.
  • EU or UK buyers: You may have a right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of delivery.  If your order has already been delivered, EU buyers can select "Withdraw and return item" in your order details or contact Whatnot Support and UK buyers can contact Whatnot Support to start a return. Important: Contacting our Support team doesn't guarantee that an order can be canceled, and Whatnot reserves the right to deny requests. Once a seller starts fulfilling an order, cancellation may not be possible.

I bid by mistake and won. Can I cancel?

For eligible orders, you can request cancellation for the seller to review.

What if I changed my mind or no longer want the item? 

For eligible orders, you can submit a cancellation request to the seller, but approval isn’t guaranteed. 

Changing your mind about an item isn't covered by Buyer Protection. Like other auction platforms, we treat bids as binding, which protects the integrity of the auction and fairness for all buyers.

Why don't I see the option to request cancellation ?

The option to request a cancellation only appears in the order details page for eligible orders. Check when you can request cancellation on Whatnot.

Can I cancel my pre-bid? 

No. Pre-bids can’t be canceled or changed. Learn more. 

If you win the auction, you can request cancellation for the seller to review.
