Adjust microphone volume while hosting shows on Android

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

If you're hosting a live show on an Android device and viewers say your voice sounds too quiet, you can adjust your microphone volume directly in the Whatnot app, without disrupting your show.

This control is best used as a last resort for device-specific audio issues, when adjusting the volume on the viewers’ end doesn’t help.

Note: Microphone volume control is not available on iOS or whatnot.com.

How to adjust microphone volume

To change your mic volume during a live show on Android:

  1. From your live show, tap More (⋯)
  2. Under Broadcasting, tap Mic Volume
  3. Choose a mic sensitivity level:
    • 1x is the default
    • A higher value (like 2x) increases your volume

Changes take effect immediately, so you can adjust as you go.

Use high mic volume with caution

Going beyond 2x mic sensitivity can cause audio distortion.

At 4x, your audio may become overblown or cut out, making it hard for viewers to hear everything you say.

If your viewers still can’t hear you after adjusting mic volume, contact our Support team so we can help adjust your microphone volume on our side.
