Japanese Export Certificates

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

Export certificates are official proof that your international shipments cleared Japanese customs. You may need them for your tax filings to claim the consumption tax (JCT) exemption on export sales. FedEx issues these certificates, and the weekly reports below give FedEx everything it needs to generate yours.

How to request your certificates

  1. From whatnot.com, go to the Finances page in Seller Hub
  2. Select the Export Certificates tab.
  3. Download the report for the period you need. Each report lists the tracking numbers (AWBs) for your packages delivered that week, in the format FedEx requires.
  4. Fill out the FedEx Export Certificate request form.
  5. FedEx will reply with an automated email. Respond to that email with your downloaded report attached.
  6. FedEx will email you an export certificate for each shipment, typically within a few business days.

Good to know

  • Reports include delivered packages only. A shipment appears in a report once it's delivered, so recent orders may show up in the following week's report.
  • Save the certificates FedEx sends you. Whatnot doesn't receive or store them.
  • When sending to Fedex, you can combine multiple weekly reports into a single monthly or quarterly report depending on the volume of packages for the period.
