Whatnot Pallet Sales Category - Beta

Whatnot Support Whatnot Support

Whatnot’s Beta Pallet Sales Category is a seller-gated category where sellers sell whole pallets of items to buyers. Given the nature of this new category, we have some specific policy requirements (set out below) around what, how, and where you can sell.

What is a pallet?

A pallet is a bulk collection of items in wholesale quantities (100+ items). Pallet inventory can be wholesale (e.g., direct from manufacturer or distributor) or liquidation inventory (e.g., overstock, returned, past-season stock, etc.). A pallet is typically organized on a wooden pallet, which may include multiple boxes or individual items.

Buyers in Pallet Sales Category

  • Carefully review what you’re buying: Buyers should carefully review the manifest, listing, and ask relevant questions to the seller to understand what they’re buying and the reason why items may be in a pallet – wholesale (e.g., direct from manufacturer or distributor) or liquidation inventory (e.g., overstock, returned, past-season stock, etc.), as well as the condition of the items.
  • Buyer shipping considerations
    • Sellers will ship out pallet within three (3) business days
    • Freight carriers will reach out to buyer within three (3) business days
    • Average pallet shipping time once it has been shipped is 1-3 weeks

Seller Requirements - Pallet Sales Category

Gated Category

Currently, the Pallet Sales Category is a gated category, meaning sellers must apply to sell in this category. If you’re interested in applying, please fill out this application and our team will review. As part of your application, we will review your existing Trust & Safety record on Whatnot and experience selling pallets.

Shipping

  • Sellers must ship their pallets/case packs within three (3) business days of the sale.
  • Sellers are responsible for coordinating their own third party logistics provider to manage freight and shipping, including updating tracking numbers on Whatnot through BYOL (Bring Your Own Label).
  • Sellers must be clear in their communications with buyers that this is being shipped by a third party shipping company, and estimated time of delivery.
  • Sellers in the Pallet Sales Category may only sell within the contiguous US.

Disclosure / manifest

To ensure buyers understand what they are purchasing, we require sellers in the Pallet Sales Category to create a listing for each pallet with a detailed manifest outlining what is contained in the pallet or case, and setting out:

  • Category
  • Sub-category
  • Description of items
  • Brand(s)
  • Quantity
  • Condition of items
  • MSRP per item
  • MSRP of whole pallet

Sellers must use the Whatnot provided manifest, available here

Condition Details

To ensure buyers understand what they are buying, and to limit refund requests, sellers must:

  • Accurately disclose condition: As always, sellers must accurately describe the condition of all items. That includes describing whether the item is New with Tags, New with Factory Defects, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
  • In addition, sellers must include as much detail as possible in their listings (or manifest) about any items contained in the pallet or pack with defects, flaws, damage, missing accessories, signs of use, scuffs, scratches, dents, discoloration, etc.
  • Please see specific disclosure requirements for different items here

Prohibited or Restricted Items

Like all sellers on Whatnot, sellers in the Pallet Sales Category must comply with Whatnot’s Prohibited or Restricted Items Policy, including Whatnot’s Counterfeit Policy

Given the specific nature of the Pallet Sales Category, please note:

  • Expired items: Sellers must not sell any items with an expiration or sell-by date (determined by the date listed on the item) received by the buyer with less than three months before the relevant expiration or sell-by date.
  • Cosmetics: Sellers must not sell any cosmetics that are more than three years old, even if they are not expired.
  • Not for resale: Sellers must not sell any items marked as ‘not for resale’ or similar.

Refunds

  • Sellers are responsible for all refunds, as set out in Whatnot’s Buyer Protection Policy
  • For clarity, sellers are responsible for all refunds related to items prohibited for sale in the Pallet Sales Category.
