New Seller Promotion on Sports Cards

Starting October 1st 2023 at 12:00 am EST and running through December 31st 2023, 11:59 pm EST, we will be offering a special promotion, lowering commission for new sellers in their first 30 days on all sales for Sports Cards products down to 4% of order value, excluding shipping, taxes, and fees, plus our usual payment processing fee (2.9% of order value, taxes and shipping + $0.30). Standard commission outside of the promotional period is 8% of order value, excluding shipping, taxes and fees, plus our usual payment processing fee (2.9% of order value, taxes and shipping + $0.30). 

Overview

To qualify for this promotion, you must be a new seller to Whatnot and make your first Sports Card product sale between October 1st, 2023 and December 31st, 2023 and within 30 days of receiving live access. Upon qualifying, your promotion will remain active for 30 days, even if the promotional period has ended. 

Reduced commissions will apply to all products properly listed under the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia). Please make sure your products are properly categorized when creating the listing for the promotion’s automatic rate adjustments to take effect.

Please note that this promotion is for Sports Cards products only and does not extend out to any additional categories, including Sports Memorabilia. If we find any evidence that you are abusing the promotion by misrepresenting non-related products, we reserve the right to take corrective action against your account.

Terms & Conditions

By participating in the Whatnot New Seller Promotion (the “Promotion”), you agree to these Whatnot New Seller Promotion Terms & Conditions (these “Terms”). If you are participating in the Promotion on behalf of a company (such as your employer) or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that company or other legal entity to these Terms. In that case, “you” and “your” will refer to that company or other legal entity. In addition, by participating in the Promotion, you agree to Whatnot’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are incorporated by reference into these Terms. 

How It Works

This is a limited time offer. The Promotion is open and offered only to Sellers on the Whatnot platform who are based in the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia who make their First Sale on the Whatnot platform in a livestream or on the marketplace (a) any time from October 1st, 2023 at 12:00:00 am ET to December 31st, 2023 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Enrollment Period”)  and (b) within 30 days after such Seller is granted live access by Whatnot. “First Sale” means a Seller’s first, valid sale of, in Whatnot’s sole discretion, a collectible sports card (each, a “Sports Category Product”) on the Whatnot platform in a livestream or on the marketplace as a Seller.  For clarity, a Sports Category Product excludes any sporting equipment, gear, and other memorabilia. Each such eligible Seller is referred to as a “New Seller”. All of such New Seller’s sales of Sports Category Products on the Whatnot platform from and including the New Seller’s First Sale, until 11:59:59 pm ET on the 30th day after such First Sale (the “Reduced Commission Period”) will be subject to a reduced commission rate of 4%, plus Whatnot’s usual payment processing charge (2.9% + $0.30) (the “Reduced Commission Rate”). Standard commission outside of the Reduced Commission Period is 8% plus Whatnot’s usual payment processing charge (2.9% + $0.30). 

Restrictions & Exclusions

• The Reduced Commission Rate will only apply to Sports Category Products, that are properly listed as such on the Whatnot platform. All other Whatnot categories, including memorabilia, are excluded from the Promotion. Please make sure your products are properly categorized when creating your listing for the Reduced Commission Rate to apply.  

• If we find any evidence that you are abusing the Promotion, including by misrepresenting the nature of products, breaching any of these Terms, setting up multiple accounts, or violating any rule, law, or regulation, we reserve the right to take corrective action against your Whatnot account in accordance with Whatnot’s Terms of Service or as otherwise permitted by law.

• All listings must comply with all applicable Whatnot policies.

• This Promotion is only valid in the United States.

The Promotion is void where prohibited or restricted by law, not redeemable for cash, has no face value, and cannot be combined with any other offer. Whatnot may cancel, suspend, amend, or revoke the Promotion or these Terms in its sole discretion at any time without notice, including in response to fraudulent activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I qualify for this promotion?

This promotion is only available to new Whatnot sellers in the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia). Here are the eligibility requirements for this promotion:

• You must complete your first sale in the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia) between October 1 - December 31, 2023
• You must complete the standard Whatnot seller onboarding process no more than 30 days prior to making your first sale
• You must be approved to sell via livestream access
• You must be a U.S. based seller  

I’m eligible! Who do I contact to activate the promotion?

The promotion will automatically activate from the time you make your first sale in the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia) within the promotional period if you meet the eligibility criteria outlined above. Once activated, the promotion will apply to all Sports Card product sales for 30 days. 

Will this promotion work in other categories? 

This specific promotion only applies to the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia) during the promotional period stated under the Terms. 

What is the promotion period?

Promotion Start: Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 12:00:00 am EST

Promotion End: Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 11:59:59 pm EST

This promotion does not apply to sales completed before this promotional period.

Please note: If you are eligible and make your first sale in the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia) on December 31, 2023, you will receive the reduced commission promotion for 30 days after that first sale. 

 How long will I get reduced commission on my sales?

After you complete your first sale in the Sports Cards category (excluding Sports Memorabilia) within the promotional period, you will unlock a reduced commission rate of 4% for 30 consecutive days.  

Are sellers residing outside of the United States eligible?

This promotion is only available to sellers based in the United States.

Can I sell in Sports Memorabilia and other categories while also qualifying for this promotion?

Yes, you can sell items in sports memorabilia and other categories during the promotional period, but you will not receive the reduced commission on those sales. This specific promotion only applies to Sports Cards listings.

I made my first sale on December 31, 2023. Will I still receive reduced commission for 30 days? 

Yes, the reduced commission rate is effective for 30 days after the first sale during the promotional period. You must also have been approved for livestream access within 30 days of your first sale.

I’ve had live access for more than 30 days. Can I still get this promotion?

Unfortunately, if you have had live access for longer than 30 days and have not made your first sale, you do not qualify for this promotion.

Do I still have to pay for payment processing?

Yes, the standard payment processing fee of 2.9% of buyer’s full total + $0.30 applies to all transactions. 

I’m a Marketplace only seller, does this promotion apply to me?

Yes, this promotion applies to both marketplace and livestream sales. However, you need livestream access in order to be eligible for the promotion.

Is the livestream category or the listing category what allows me to get reduced commission?

The promotion will be applied based on the product listing category.
