Adding Items to Sell in a Livestream

This article discusses how to add an item to your livestream’s Auction, Buy It Now (BIN), or Giveaway listings. 

You can add items to your livestream shop listings while scheduling your livestream or anytime before or during your live show. 

You can list your items under one of the following categories:

• Auction: Items you want to sell live in an auction during your stream.
• Buy it Now (BIN): Items you want to showcase and sell at a fixed price during your livestream.

Before choosing what you want to list on your livestream, please review the items prohibited on Whatnot.  

Adding Items to Sell During your Livestream 

There are several ways to add an item to your livestream. You can:

• Add listings from your shop to your livestream. All photos and settings from your shop listings will also carry over to your livestream listings. Only available on the mobile app.
• Copy listings from previous livestreams and add them to your live show. All photos and settings from those listings will carry over to your current livestream. Only available on the mobile app.
• Add new listings manually by scanning your item's barcode or searching for the item in Whatnot’s database. 

Adding Items from your Shop to a Livestream 

You can add listings from your Whatnot shop (items available for purchase outside of a livestream) automatically to your livestream’s Buy it Now section. This will carry over all photos and info from the shop listing to the one in your livestream shop.

Items from your shop purchased in a livestream will be removed once someone purchases that item, so there’s no risk of someone buying an unavailable item. 

Note: You can only add shop items to your livestream using the mobile app. 

1. Open the Whatnot app on your mobile device.
2. Go to your scheduled livestream.
3. Tap the + (plus) button on the far right.
   
4. Tap From Shop at the top of your screen.
   
   
5. Search for and tap on the listing you want to add to the livestream. You can select multiple items at a time. 
6. Tap Done to finish uploading your listing.

Note: Your listing will be added to your Buy It Now livestream shop. You can edit the listing to change the listing’s category to Giveaway or Auction.

Adding Items from Previous Livestreams

If there are listings from previous livestreams you want to carry over into your current stream, you can copy those items (and the item details) into your new livestream.

1. Open the Whatnot app on your mobile device.
2. Go to your scheduled livestream.
3. Tap the + (plus) button at the far right.
   
   
4. Tap the Clone icon (two squares with a plus symbol) at the top of your screen.
   
5. Scroll through and tap on a previous livestream. 
6. Tap to select each listing you want to copy to the current livestream, or tap Select all to clone all listings.
7. Tap Clone, then Yes, to add those listings to your stream. 

Adding New Items to a Livestream on Mobile

To manually add listings on your iOS or Android device:

1. Open the Whatnot app on your mobile device.
2. Go to your scheduled livestream.
3. Tap the + (plus) button on the far right.
   
   
4. (Optional) Choose if you want to find your item by scanning the barcode or searching through Whatnot’s database, or you can manually enter the item’s info.
   • Scan: Scan the item’s barcode to populate a list of options from Whatnot’s database. Be sure to scan the correct barcode. Remove any obstructions (e.g., stickers, glare, etc.) that could prevent the camera from capturing the barcode accurately.
     1. Tap the Scan icon (square with a line through it).
        
        
     2. Center the item’s barcode in the center of your camera. 
     3. Select your item from the list of results.
   • Search: Search through Whatnot’s database and select the item you want to sell. 
     1. Tap the Search icon (magnifying glass).
        
        
     2. Search for and select an item from the list of results. 
5. Tap Add photos and take pictures of your item (front, back, top, bottom, and each side). Optionally, take photos of any damage or residue the item might have.
6. Configure the following settings (some settings may be pre-filled):
   • Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.).
   • Title: Item name. Be as descriptive as possible and include keywords to help users quickly search for and find specific items in your livestream.
   • Description: Describe the item, including the condition. Be as detailed as you can. Note: Check out our item conditions guidelines to help identify your item's quality.
7. Tap Next. 
8. Under Sales Type, choose if the item will be listed under Auction or Buy it Now.
9. Configure the following settings (some settings may be pre-filled):
   • Price (for Buy it Now listings) or Starting price (for Auction listings): Item price (Buy it Now) or the price you want to start the item at in an auction.
   • Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item. 
   • Unit Shipping Weight: Choose the approximate weight of your item. 
   • Mystery Item or Pull Game?: Turn this on if the item is a mystery or part of a pull game.
10. Tap Publish. 
11. Tap Finish or Add Another.

Adding New Listings to a Livestream on Desktop or Web

To add listings using the desktop app or from your web browser:

1. Open the desktop app or go to whatnot.com in your web browser.
2. Go to your scheduled livestream.
3. Click the Add button at the bottom of the left panel (your livestream listings).
   
   
4. Choose how you want to add your listing:
   • Quick Add: Manually add your item and all necessary information.
   • Search our Database: Search through Whatnot’s database and select the item you want to sell.
     
     
5. Choose if the item should be under Auction, Buy it Now, or Giveaway.
   
   
6. Configure the following settings:
   • Category: The category of the item you’re selling (e.g., Funko, Trading Card Game, etc.). Note: The category will be pre-selected if you use Search our Database to add your item.  
   • Name: Item name. Be as specific as possible and use keywords to help users search for and find items during your livestream. 
   • Description: Describethe item, including the condition. Be as detailed as you can. Note: Check out our item conditions guidelines to help identify your item's quality. 
   • Quantity: The total number of inventory you have for that item.
   • List these products individually: Turn this on if you want each duplicate item listed as separate items in your shop. 
   • Price (for Buy it Now listings) or Starting price (for Auction listings): The price or starting price of the item. 
   • Shipping Profile: Choose from the list of options to identify the weight of your item. Note: The wait will be pre-selected if you use Search our Database to add your item.  
   • Mystery Item or Pull Game?: Turn this on if the item is a mystery or part of a pull game.
   • Followers only: (Giveaways only) Turn this on if you only want those who are following to enter the giveaway.
   • International shipping: (Giveaways only) Turn this on if you’re okay with shipping the item internationally. You will incur all shipping costs. 
7. Click the Add photos plus button and upload photos of your item (front, back, top, bottom, and each side). Optionally, take photos of any damage or residue your item might have. 
8. Click Confirm to finish adding your item(s).

Managing Your Listings in a Livestream

1. Open a livestream on your desktop, mobile app, or web browser.
2. Open your store (the left panel for desktop/web users or the Store icon for mobile users).
3. Choose the Auction, Buy it Now, or Giveaway tab. 
4. Click or tap on a listing and choose what you want to do:
   • Start Auction: Start a live auction for that item. This will automatically pin the item to your livestream until the auction ends.
   • Pin/Unpin Item: Pin a listing to the bottom of your livestream so buyers can see which item you plan to run next (or are currently running). Pinned listings will include the item name, description, and price (if applicable).
   • Edit Item: Edit the category (Auction, Buy it Now, or Giveaway), item name,  description, price, and quantity. Pinned listings will include the item name, description, and price (if applicable). 
   • Delete Item: Remove the item from your listings.
