Reduced Commission on High-Value Collectibles

When it comes to supporting our sellers, we know that for you to continue to scale your business on Whatnot, we need to provide you with better tools and resources to sell high-value products on Whatnot.

As a continuation of this effort, we are very excited to announce that through June 30th, any sales above our promotional thresholds for participating categories will be charged a 2% commission rate for the portion of the sale that is over the threshold. 

Note: This program is available for sales made in the following categories:

• Trading Card Games (“TCG”)
• Comics
• Video Games
• Action Figures
• Toys
• LEGO
• Sports Cards
• Sneakers
• Coins & Money

How It Works

Depending on which category you sell in, you’ll receive a reduced commission on sales that surpass a specific amount. The following table explains which threshold sales must reach to qualify for the reduced commission rate:

If you were to sell a Pokemon card for $10,000 on Whatnot, the first $1,000 of your sale will be charged your existing commission rate, while the remaining $9,000 would be charged the new 2% commission rate (plus the 2.9% + $0.30 standard payment processing fee).

Is a reduced commission available for other categories on Whatnot?

While this new high-value commission rate structure is currently only available on sales made in the specified Collectibles categories, our goal is to continue to evaluate the program on an ongoing basis to ensure we are always creating the best and most sustainable programs for our users.

How long will this last?

This change will take effect on April 11th (12:00 am PT) and will last through the end of June 30th, 2023 (11:59 pm PT). Only sales that occur within the promotional period are eligible for the discounted promotional Marginal Commission Rate of 2% - note that we are unable to apply this rate to sales that were completed prior to this promotional period.

How do I enroll in this program?

Enrollment is not necessary! Any sales of products on Whatnot over the promotional thresholds will automatically be charged a 2% commission rate for the portion of the sale over the threshold amount. Whatnot sellers will receive payment as they normally would with any completed order.

Are international sellers (Canada, UK, France) eligible?

All sellers are eligible to participate. Thresholds are standardized in USD, converted from local currency using the applicable exchange rates at the time of sale. 

How do I manage shipping and insurance on these high-value items?

High-value orders may require an insured label, to get an insured label, or if you have any questions, please reach out to us at sellersupport@whatnot.com
